Why are all the ponies on Ebay so overpriced lately?

I WANT THEM, but I just can't bring myself to pay $20-$150 MORE than what they should be THEN fork over $25 in shipping fees. And the ponies aren't even minty or washed! What are people thinking?

eBay seller fees eat into profits and shipping a lot of ponies at one time can get expensive with their weight and recent shipping costs being more expensive. 
I think people also over charge because they know they can get away with it since someone out there is willing to pay.

I bought a non-eBay pony lot and paid $50 for 13 or so ponies, ( four G1's adult unicorns, 2 BBE babies and a really nice Tic Tac Toe baby, two peekaboo babies with one being a boy, Princess Starburst and a regular sunDance ) but because the seller lived in Canada, I paid $27 in shipping too. Some might not think it was a great lot because there were no rare ponies in it, but I love each pony and feel as if it was worth every bit.

sometimes they are people who looked up prices for MLP auctions which are over and saw that some went for more and they think their pony is also worth that much. for example - a TE mimic goes for 80$ and the have a TE sky rocket so they think "oh, also gem-eyed - these ponies are worth much!" - then you'll find a 80$ BIN sky rocket on ebay

It could also be the new influx of fans from FiM, they get interested in the older gens and don't know what they're talking about, sellers then take advantage of it. Sad but true.

possibly this is the phase when folks splurge a bit using tax refund money, too... good thing for arena and TP sales to avoid the evil-bay (a $300 blue heart argie comes to mind... I was thinking Ok, $200 tops but guess not)

hang in there and be patient = there will always be ponies (this is my mantra! otherwise I would probably blow $10K a year trying to get everything that comes available = like a mint in bag mommy /baby set = woah already past $400...)

I agree. It's a shame, but the influx of new fans has meant there is so much more competition now. Meh, just see it as a bit of fun. That's what I do when things get nasty on the bidding field!

Yeppers. I avoid ebay. There are so many amazing sellers here that you can find nirvana's for reasonable prices.

I agree that the price of ponies seems to have skyrocketed in the last couple of years.  I definitely attribute it to new fans- which is a good thing!  Higher prices is not so great- but the Classifieds is a REALLY good place to buy ponies.

I personally, think its more to the fact that one can look up past auctions...and you see one that sold for a high price, while all the rest sold for much lower...of course they are gonna want the high price right? It does suck, sometimes you almost want to message the person to tell them what they really have and what its really worth!!! Sorry you are feeling this way...patience is key though!
