Ponies and Lestoil?
« on: April 15, 2013, 08:56:36 AM »
Has anyone ever used Lestoil for general cleaning of ponies' bodies? I use Lestoil for all kinds of cleaning from laundry to model horses & it's wonderful! I just wonder if it would help clean off surface grime from some childhood ponies I'm getting out of storage.

Its a degreaser isnt it? I have heard of all manner of different chemicals being used over the years, although not this one in particular to be honest. If I was you I would do some initial time tests under hooves to check first that it works and second that it doesnt have any kind of effect on the plastic over time.

As an alternative for basic dirt and grime, I honestly would initially recommend a magic eraser!
Thank you Matcha for my gorgeous Baby Fifi avi

I second the magic eraser thing.. those things are INCREDIBLE!! Though they do break down pretty fast.
Yes, definitely try it under hooves, or even on a really bad pony so that you can know if it has any ill effects to pony plastic.

Magic erasers are the bomb, you've got that right!  They've worked miracles on my 80 year old kitchen fixtures!  As a veteran Breyer collector I just habitually shy away from using anything abrasive.  I have a box lot of older ponies coming this week & I think I'll wait for them to try it out rather than on my childhood ponies, who aren't faceplanted-in-the-dirt filthy & could likely be cleaned just as well w/ dishsoap if I weren't a Lestoil fangirl.

Dude, it gets bugs off your car!

Ooh, I just remembered my incoming lot has one G3 in it...I hope it's dirty 'cause I have no idea what to do with it other than chemical experimentation.
