Hathorcat, that is such a sweet story! I've been discovering things like that about my mum, too- that she sacrificed so much for us.

I have Masquerade, and I adore her because of how she came to me. That and she's a pony, of course. I had gone to an antique store and they had a huge huge box of ponies, and I dug through that box for a long long time. I picked up Masquerade, then set her down, then picked her up... then set her down. And that night when I got home, I realized I had left her. I called a friend of mine who lives sort of near that town, and asked if he would go find this specific pony in a huge antique store in a big box of similar-looking toys, and he did! A few nights later, a little paper bag appeared in the front seat of my car- he had driven all the way to my work, dropped off the pony and left without even saying hello. Everything about that makes me smile, and Masquerade holds onto that happy memory for me.

I have her. She is so pretty, but I always seem to forget about her. Which I guess is ok, because I fall in love with her over and over again.

I love this pony! I adore her colours and her symbol. I used to have her, but I haven't reacquired her yet.

I have her and love her.

She is the only pony I ever remember being allowed to pick out in store - all my other ponies were birthday or Christmas gifts. I was 5 years old and my parents were moving so I was having to leave my school and go to a new one. As a reward for being a good girl, my mum walked me down to Woolworths and stood me in front of the pony wall...I got to pick whichever one I liked. I picked Masquerade.

I didnt know until I was a grown up - that my mum and dad could not really afford that pony at the time due to the costs of moving and other factors. But she was so proud of me for going to school on my last day and not crying too much about leaving my friends that she went without on a few things in order to buy me Masquerade. She is the only childhood pony who I truly truly wish I still had for sentimental reasons.

That is the sweetest story I have heard.
