For my birthday (which was quite some time ago) my mom gave me money to buy a sewing machine: a Brother CS-770 to be exact. A few days ago when it was on sale, I bought it. It wasn't until yesterday that I took it out and started practicing with it. The last time I ever used a sewing machine was back in 7th grade in Home Ec., so this was a whole new experience for me. I had all sorts of problems with the upper thread breaking and lower thread getting tangled, and it wasn't until recently that I figured out what the problem was. Turns out I had the feed dog lever down this whole entire time, so it wasn't feeding like it should!
(Is pretty sure that the manual never said anything about that...) That would explain why the decorative stitches were turning out to be horrendous messes....
So, I just plan to practice stitching and what not for now, but any advice and comments regarding sewing and sewing machines will be appreciated. My hope is to use my sewing machine to make plushies and costumes in the future, but I'll just stick to messing around for now.
