What condition do you look for in the ponies you collect?

Mint or NM condition, totally original ponies.
Ponies that display well, hidden marks acceptable, but all original.
Anything that looks good, including replicas and rehairs etc.
Mistreated ponies, so I can pamper them in my spa!
Custom bait - I primarily customize.
Other - please specify

I am not a very picky pony collector either, but I do not really like to take the really bad ones.

I look for ponies in fairly good condition with no or minor flaws that display nicely, AND beaten-up looking filthy and frizzy darlings whom I can give lots of love to. But if a pony in my collection is rehaired or has other body parts restored, it has to be done by myself.

My ponies must be perfect or restorable to perfect or they don't make the collection. I'm very picky. Which is lucky really since I don't have room for every pony that passes through. I don't mind faded hair though. Half the time, faded looks better than original but that's just my opinion.

Less than perfect ponies are sold on to people who will appreciate them.

Bad condition ponies are custom bait. Except g1. I never buy g1 anyway but if I had one, I'd never customise it. Just too scared in case she is sought after. And I only customise g3's.

For me it really depends on the pony. Mostly I want my ponies SUPER MINT...or as close as I can manage on my budget :p
I have certian flaws that I always hate and will almost always pass up a pony with them (Brown marks!!) and others that can sometimes be acceptable...

I don't mind Re-hairs, infact, in my mind (though it's not original, I know!) a pony seems a lot more mint with a nice smooth and pink rehair, than a cut faded dry original. I think it looks much nicer too.
I wouldn't want too much touching of original symbols though.. if they did that it would feel more like a custom XD

Like I said, much prefer mint but I am ok with some flaws.
I even have some ponies that I have no need or want to upgrade! For example, I have a TE Whizzer who has GORGEOUS eyes and a little bob for a haircut. Her tail is also cut and curled, so she has little Shirley temple curls for a tail that are just adorable. If someone were to offer me a MINT Whizzer for this girl I wouldn't trade, because I think she looks cuter as she is.

I also love to restore, so I never pass up a pony at a thrift store.. If her restorations aren't to my liking I can pass her along to someone else who might need her!

If I am buying off here or ebay or any other trading post, I like as near mint as I can afford.  I do get some satisfaction from restoring ponies, washing them, styling their hair etc. However, I do lack the skills and tools for rehairing ponies so i usually ask for no drastic hair cuts. A little trim to remove the worst bits of frizz is fine, but no buzz cut or manx ponies please!!  Eye rubs are fine too, I have a nifty little aerospace pen, permanent but no dissolving into the plastic and dries with a brownish tinge like the eyes on G1 for that!!

LOL, Manx Ponies. That's really cute; it's the first time I've heard bobbed-tail or no-tail Ponies called that.

I prefer to have excellent condition but of course with G1 thats not always possible. I don't mind hidden marks or little marks on the NDS but nothing too obvious. I'm not to fussed with say a pony having a bit of a fringe where its mane has been a tiny bit cut like my firefly but no massive haircuts or buzz cuts. I don't mind bait ponies because sometimes what one person considers to be bait is just a pony needing a good wash. Replicas I don't have a problem with the only way i'm ever going to own reverse Gusty and Mimic is if I pay for someone to make a custom replica. And of course bait G1s can be used for customs. I haven't done any for a while though and my customs have always been G3 because they're easier to get hold of.

I am a fuss pot I am afraid :P

I like my ponies minty or at a push near minty. I have some place holders in my collection who have minor issues and I ll replace out over time. I am surprisingly picky!

I really enjoy fixing ponies the best I can and I'm not a really picky collector, so most of the ones I own have flaws. I also have some fakies, a rehair and a custom fakie wip right now :) Of course I also enjoy having perfect mint ones but I'm not really bothered that much in general.

Depends upon the pony.  Some, I'm determined to get my hooves on as minty a pony as possible; others, it's all good.  And there really isn't much rhyme or reason to the whys of it.  Sorry if that doesn't help much. :shy:

Same, I tend to be more picky with my online purchases as of course you've got to factor in shipping and stuff and usually when buying ponies online I'm after one or two specific ponies so I like them to be in as good as a condition as possible.

yeah I'm picky with some ponies or sets, others not so much. Like the 2nd set rainbows... I'm looking for mint ones, as I can't stand symbol rust, but I want the magic message ponies with symbols in any condition, and I'll go from there. I don't mind fading pink hair being faded, I think white hair is pretty. Flutters, wings or without, but summer wings, winged only. It really depends on what pony or set, or how I feel about them at the time as to what I buy.

I like ponies in all sorts of conditions, just as long as they aren't missing too much like tails, manes, complete symbol loss and lots of marker. Other than those, I'm fine.
