Easter Eggs
« on: March 25, 2013, 09:18:34 PM »
Do you paint/ decorate/ dye Easter eggs?
I have always been doing it with my family, even my dad loves to do it. This year I am going to do it with my Chinese students again, I bet it will be a mess!
Do you have any pictures to share? Neat baskets, nests, anything welcome!

We have always dyed eggs for Easter, I always loved the wax crayon thing that comes with the dye where it wont let the dye get on the egg, so it makes images. Last year we used food coloring and they came out pretty. I don't have any pictures, but I always love egg dying with my kids. It's as traditional as making Christmas cookies for Santa.

I will be doing some neat metallic type eggs this year. Let's see if I can avoid getting dye everywhere this time.

My sister and I did it every year up until this year (she moved to another state  :( ) and we are in our 20s  I was debating on even doing it this year but then my boyfriend mentioned he might be interested in coloring eggs so I think it's back on.
My sister and I love getting creative. We've used the wax crayon, tape cut in shapes, rubber bands. We have some amazing neon food coloring we like to use.

I always loved dyeing eggs :) I remember begging my mom, "can we do it today?!" I can't remember when we stopped, but my sister said we were getting too old to do it. Aww... I really liked it, but it's no fun doing it without her. I still miss going Easter egg hunting at my grandparents house. I wish I was a kid again!

I paint blown out eggs sometimes but dyed eggs as a kid. I like to make leaf print eggs but sometimes they don't turn out.

I never really had egg dyeing as a tradition as I grew up Jewish, but it looks like fun!

I love Easter.  As far as eggs go, I do not dye them anymore.  I did as a kid though and really enjoyed that.  My mother use to make all sorts of special eggs. My favorite thing as a kid was the plastic multicolored sleeves you put around the egg and place in boiling water.  We had lots of Easter egg hunts when I was young.  Usually we went to church first and had our egg hunts later.  Since I don't have kids of my own, I guess I just found that going through this process is not as exciting as it was as a child.

I haven't dyed eggs since I was a kid, and we don't really have any reason to right now... but I do have a bunch of plastic ones :D I really need to get my decorations organized.

Usually, though I dont htink we did it last year.

Im not sure if we are going to be dying eggs this year.  Its different when you no longer have the sole source of egg decorating with you anymore.

We do it every year with the whole family at my MIL's house. She boils about 8 dozen eggs and we all bring a egg decorating kit of our choice and have at it.  Actually we are doing it this Thursday!

I haven't done this since I was a kid. Me and my little cousin used to go to my grandparent's house (both who are now passed away, sadly) to color eggs all day. It was so much fun. I remember we'd make Jell-O eggs too.

Even though I feel childish for it, I am so tempted to buy an egg-dying kit and dye a bunch of eggs for my dad. XD  I hate eggs and think they taste disgusting, but he always has hard-boiled eggs around the house. He loves eggs. Doesn't the dye sometimes seep through to color the egg whites? I'd love nothing more than to see him chop up green and blue eggs for his salad. For some reason that would make me laugh, LOL.

I've always wanted to... but never have.  It just always ends up being inconvenient.  :(
