America's next top Mimic?
« on: March 24, 2013, 09:09:26 PM »
So I was watching a bidding war on a certain auction site over a Mimic and I thought to myself, "I wonder if, 10 or 20 yrs from now people will be loony about one of these G4 ponies?" Then I started to wonder which one it might be. I have my ideas of the ones who've already been released, but I wondered what you guys thought. So who do you think will be the next Mimic?
PS, not just in America...I thought the title was just funny! ;)

Star Swirl and Blossomforth :1

Star Swirl is already stupidly expensive, being international exclusive, and Blossomforth is just very pretty and wanted.

Ditzy's regular-sized release will probably be the same way.

I don't really understand why Blossomforth is so wanted. I got two of her when she first came out, one is still in the box because I was going to use her for a custom but now I have no idea what to do with her XD

Star Swirl is so hard to get a hold of right now.  I'm glad I have so many other ponies on my list to look for before I get to Mimic though.

Well everyone seems to be gaga over the regular wings Ploomette... I LOVE her colors personally...

But - technically, for us in the US, StarSwirl and Ploomette CAN'T be our Mimic because Mimic was a US release... so, if that's the case. I'm going to have to say the Easter Fluttershy... ?

I dunno. I'm just sayin' :)

Although Star Dreams is going to be greek ladybird, methinks... I've never even seen one!

If I am absolutely honest...in years to come I dont think any G4s are going to be super expensive. There are too many of them in collections and in existence to ever appreciate in value. With the exception perhaps of the CC/Fair ponies due to their limited production number. I am also sure so long as unreleased ponies such as Minty and Sweetie Blue remain unreleased that they with time, along with the transparent ponies, will increase in value.

But as for any regular store release - US or international - I think they ll drift back down. Skywishes is already much lower than she was several months ago. We have already seen it with G3s...Anchors Away used to be a $50 pony, now she is more like $10-15. Once people stop collecting, once toys bought as toys start to hit ebay with full out regularity or we move on to the next generation, prices will drop.

However, I am sure a couple will stay higher than others - mainly Star Swirl and perhaps Ploomette and Rainbow Flash.
Thank you Matcha for my gorgeous Baby Fifi avi

True enough. International exclusives always seem to hold on pretty well due to limited numbers, but who knows? I wasn't thinking so much monitarily as desireability. Everyone seems to want a Mimic!

I agree with Hathorcat! The same thing happenef with the g3's and while the g4 is much more popular there are just so many produced and so many collectors keeping them : ) Some limited releases will hold some value but I don't think it will ever be close to the g1 price increases. Who knows though..that is why we need a time machine : )

I would say Sweetie Swirl, or Sky Wishes. Someone who was a bonus pony and sought after from the beginning.

If I had to guess I'd say Dewdrop Dazzle.  She seemed to be well liked to me when she came out :)
