You're so lucky to find that rare Care Bear cousin. I"m always on the lookout for the rare ones.

Here's a recent fun Goodwill find. It was $3 but I"m giving it to a friend for her birthday so I'll live with the price. Taking a picture of the ejector head action sticker was a bit difficult and I'm afraid the plastic at that angle distorted the picture of her face, which made me lol.

 and my son isn't sure why.  Real-life action figures rock!  Ejector-head action... snerk!

My thrifting excursion today netted me Tales Too Ticklish To Tell (Bloom County) for a quarter, and a very pretty Prance the Cat Beanie Baby (with heart tag in a plastic protector, no less) for a dime.  Plus a beluga plushie and dolphin plushie for my son, and a slightly scuffed-eye McD's Fluttershy to put on my spare handbag. ^.^  All for under a dollar!  Yay!

But seriously, I don't know how half the stuff winds up in that place.  I got troll-hair Shining Armour and Cadence last week... aren't they relatively new-ish?

Wishlist - I'm back on (semi-) active buying again... can't buy everything on my wish list all at once (yay, back-to-school and tuition fees), but I am still looking to plump up my collection a bit more: http://mlparena.com/index.php/topic,380638.0.html

Our thrift stores are awfully exxy here now... $6-$12 for a book?? I buy paperbacks new for $6! I have a few quite away from me that I frequent, but the ones near me are rip-offs!!!

Man, I haven't been thrifting in forever! It's been way too long. Partially because my favorite thrift store is inconvenient to get to now, partially because I spent way too much money there! I might have to go again this weekend, all you guys are making me realize how much I miss it!

Post Merge: April 11, 2013, 04:39:31 PM

And I agree, in the last several years, the prices have risen a lot as more people have been shopping there. It's a bummer.

Well I don't have any photos but I totally scored Family Guy Season 6 at Goodwill for $10 (all the DVDs work too! Case in great shape), as well as a Breyers horse, and some Armani ties for my fiance! :)

I tend to prefer the markets to thrift, I haven't had a pony thrift score in years, but I get them at the markets almost every time.

I think there are two fakies in there... Another one wearing a shirt. I have all those guys from my childhood collection...somewhere. I felt bad for them though. I definitely played with those more than ponies back in the day!

I actually have some recent scores to show off at last.

First, was at Vinnie's a couple days ago...

These little cuties were 45 cents each.

Also at Vinnie's that same day...

visitors can't see pics , please register or login

The green one was 95 cents (due to her mane and tail being cut.  The purple one was $1.50.)

Then just today at Goodwill for $3.00...

Disney's various ducks are one of my biggest collections.  The other side of the can though has Mickey instead of Donald or Daisy.  What were the geniuses at Disney thinking there?  If you are going to do Huey, Dewey, and Louie on a product, keep to the theme.

Lastly, about a week ago at Goodwill, I paid $25 for this...

It was just the bare console.  The 20GB hard drive, little screen, the cables, and controller, I already had.  When I got it home and first tried it out, it had the dreaded red ring of death.  Fortunately, thanks to the magic of YouTube, I was able to find a real easy to follow tutorial on how to fix this.  Just had to open it up, remove the heat sinks and clean off the thermal compound that was on the heatsinks, CPU, and GPU (the workers at the factory used waaaaaay too much.)

After that, since I don't have a heat gun handy, I just ran a hair dryer on high over the CPU and GPU for about 5 minutes to reset the solder connections.  I added a fresh application of thermal compound, put it back together, and minutes later, was singing, "This was a triumph!  I'm making a note here.  Huge success.  It's hard to overstate my satisfaction..."

So for $25 and a little labor, I now have a fully functional XBox 360.

I love going to Goodwill! Don't find too too many things there though. :(

I did go to Salvation Army last week, ran across a bag with 2 vintage Sky Dancers in there.
But since I no longer really collect vintage toys, all the ones I run across are going straight to the sales thread.

Nice score with the 360! I need to take mine apart soon and fix it up it's having some overheating issues I think.

Last weekend I upgraded two more VHS tapes to DVD!

I'm on a few other toy forums and while we have the brag arena here, I'd love to have a place for all our non pony bragging! I want to see your thrift store finds! From 80s toys to Dishware anything and everything.  ^.^ Now I consider this somewhat off topic but mods feel free to move to whichever thread you feel is best.

Now I can start though there are ponies in this photo, my haul today:
Some bait ponies, the beast, comics from the local comic shop,  and QUEEN size TMNT sheet!

I need this in my life. Time to stalk the eBay.

I hardly ever see any toys at the thrift stores (mostly Goodwills) I frequent around here. :\ But I did find a great deal on some lovely plushies from the local Craigslist this week!

For only $11 I got:
A Skelanimals pillow in the shape of Kit the Cat's head.
An Emily the Strange plush, Skele-Posse Nee Chee (the seller thought he was a Skelanimal, but this particular line of Emily plushes just looks really similar to them. They were both produced by Toynami).
The yellow Gloomy Bear is a Taito crane machine prize from Japan.
Bush Baby Yoohoo with rainbow tail - I had this guy with me all day before accidentally discovering he has a voice box inside, and makes an adorable noise when you squeeze his tummy. XD (I also thought he was a lemur, originally - unlike the others, I didn't know anything about this line beforehand.)

Even adding in the $13 I spent eating out for lunch (that I wouldn't have if I hadn't been picking these babies up), I still think I got a great deal. I'm a bit of an Emily the Strange cat collector, and I know Nee Chee alone is worth at least $25. :) (Not that he's going anywhere - these cuties are all mine.)
