Large package with tracking has gone MIA
« on: March 15, 2013, 09:51:58 AM »
So I paid for this package on March 2nd, it was shipped on march 4th from CA and on March 8th it left Forest Park, IL. I live in Wheaton, IL. I have had no further updates on where it is. When should I start worrying and do I contact the seller on eBay or try to talk to someone at the post office.  It contained a large amount of ponies that I hope arent lost forever!  :(

Was it shipped parcel post /parcel select or priority mail? Both include tracking but priority is is usually faster.

It could take up to three weeks then. I wouldn't at all worry yet. Standard mail is the renamed parcel post.

I know Forest Park, IL can take a couple days to process First Class mail too, so I'd just sit tight for now and stalk the tracking number :awake:

I've never seen anything say that standard/parcel post within the US would take that long. It should take 2-8 days.

If it has been in your state for a week, I'd say it wouldn't hurt to call the post office.

Sparkleset there has been alot of issues with USPS lately, I hate to say.  :(   I know for a fact someone here has a package that was sent out of Columbus, Ohio on Feb.15th and it quit tracking after that. Needless to say they have not received it yet.  And I think it was being sent to your general area.   I am not saying that has happened to you but in my opinion even if it was sent by the new "Standard Post" it should not take that long. It never did in the past.

I would contact your seller and see what they can find out??? If it was last updated in your state there is noway it should not be to you yet. That is just from my experience so I could be wrong.

I will definitely contact the seller tonight. Today was the last day for the estimated shipping day so I'll wait until I get my mail to see if it comes today. I was going to get 80 plus ponies so of course this would happen to me. I'm really bummed this has happened. I'll give an update later tonight. Cross your hooves for me!

What The post office gives is a timeline. 2-8 days is not a guaranteed time.Yes, it SHOULD only take 2-8 days and most folks are lucky. I have heard horror stories on my other model horse board where packages can take 3 weeks or more.

Right, but I feel like if it takes that long it is because there is a problem somewhere. It is not the norm for standard shipping to take that long and it shouldn't take that long. Especially if tracking has the package last spotted only a few hours away.

I don't think you need to worry just yet.

From the USPS webpage, http://faq.usps.com/eCustomer/iq/usps/request.do?create=kb:USPSFAQ&view()=c%5Bc_usps0611%
(hopefully that link works?)

My guess is that it's just caught up in a small hub in a small town. All mail items have a priority. Parcel post is kinda at the bottom of the food chain.

The seller MIGHT be able to get some additional tracking info if she contacts the post master from where she mailed it at.

There has been alot issues with the USPS the last few months. My hunny never got a poster that he paid for. It just never showed up. We also had some mail taken and opened up. It showed up a week later with a we are sorry on them. I do not care we are sorry.

I did get my Zumba the other day and it was shipped the fast way that the tracking info never showed anything at all!!!

I hope it all works out for you. That is alot of ponies!!!!!!

Well, the mail showed up but no package.  :pullhair: I went ahead and messaged the seller so I will see what they have to say or if they have any additional info.

Post Merge: March 15, 2013, 04:36:46 PM

So I heard from the seller who is in the hospital having back surgery and will probably be released on Monday.  Looks like I'm just going to have to wait some more.
