Tax Season Sales - When to Set Auctions?
« on: March 14, 2013, 10:22:00 AM »
Hi All,
Long time no see! I am sorry I haven't been around, I've been working full time and dealing with a diagnosis of anemia and seeing a GI doctor for serious stomach issues, so I just didn't have the time or energy to post in all my usual haunts for a while. I am finally going to get my sales back together in time for tax season, hoping to just offload a whole bunch of G1 and G4 ponies in one go. I'm wondering when is the best time to set auctions around this time. Better to go for right before April 15th or after? When do you all prefer to buy?

Tax return season on Ebay is already going... if you want to be prepared, you need to start listing by end of February.  Feb 28th is the date that all employers must have given their employees their forms to file taxes so if you're one of those filers who uses digital software, you can have your refund as early as March.

So definitely start listing NOW if you want to take advantage of the additional funds floating around Ebay during tax return season!  I would say the peak is between March 29th and April 15th, most people filing late aren't going to spend that return money on fun stuff.

I agree, start listing now. By April, people have already spent 90% of it.

HI babystarz!  :hiya:

I am going to bump this over to the Corral.  I think you might get better answers there.

Good Luck with your sales!

Lovely to see you babystarz  - I hope things start to settle down for you soon.

While we dont see it as much of a bump over here as you do in the US, I agree that between two weeks ago and the middle of April certainly always seems to be when most items sell and see at reasonable prices.
Thank you Matcha for my gorgeous Baby Fifi avi

I've had the best luck selling on eBay in February & March. Tax info is required to be given to people by January 31st (in the US... I guess it's different in Canada?), and many people file early & have their refund in hand by mid-February.

Just because you missed the prime time for tax season selling don't worry... I've had decent luck selling in April, too. :bigups:

Thanks everyone! I have started a couple of auctions, I won't be able to do the bulk of them until next week. I'm glad I asked though!

Yes I would do them now. :) I must be the only one that has only spent a few hundred of what I got back. Most of it went into saving :)
