Kaoskat has received my box for the Stork Swap, so I can show off my creation now!
Of all the pairs that Kat had listed, Cotton Candy and Bow Tie seemed like the most fun. After lots of sketches and ideas, I came up with this little one! She started as really baity baby that I’m pretty sure was a Baby Cotton Candy at one point. She had been dyed, painted, painted again, partially stripped, and was in desperate need of a new life. Since Baby CC is Kat’s favorite pony, I decided that I wanted to use her anyway.
I gave her an FBR in a custom shade of purple, using paints that were good matches for CC and Bow Tie, to make sure that I had a color that made sense for her. She was sealed in Mod Podge Matte with gloss on her eyes and symbol. I tried something new and rehaired her in Tibetan Lambswool, which is super duper soft and loveable.

loginI wanted to make Kat an extra, so I decided to make a little pony-sized quilt! I gathered up some fabric scraps in Kat’s favorite colors: blue, pink, and purple. They’re also the colors of the parent ponies and the baby! So I thought it was perfect! But once I got to cutting my squares, I thought: “A little pony quilt would be cute, but I’ll make one big enough for her dolls to use!” So I kept cutting. Now, I’ve sewn plenty of full-sized people quilts before, so thought this would be a piece of cake. But I always use a sewing machine; this time, I thought it would be fun to do it by hand. The first night, I worked for 4 hours straight while babysitting and still didn’t have the top finished. I snagged an hour here and there for the next week and finally finished it all up the night before the shipping deadline.
It took about 22 working hours, but I wanted the little pony to arrive snuggly and now Kat’s dollies have a hand-pieced, hand-sewn, and hand-quilted quilt!
