Haha-  I haven't seen this one yet but it definitely looks like a nod to Jem.  Makes sense since Hasbro owns Jem and the animators are probably about my age...  (and Jem has been exciting lately due to the new dolls)

Yep.  I don't know anything about the LPS show but the shape of the purple hair looks like Shana's.  The shape of the drum looks similar to Shana/Raya's drum.  The pink haired one who is wearing earrings that are red and stars (though they aren't Jem shaped stars) looks like Jem.  One animal has a keytar which Kimber and Stormer use (though it's a different shape).  Then they have the 80's makeup on.  The blue one didn't have long hair but then he did (maybe he's supposed to be Aja? lol).  And of course the start of the "music video" with the song name and band is like Jem too.
