Macbook Pro - Linking To TV - Help

Hiya,

Laptop is Snow Leopard - late 2009.

Bought mini whatever thingy - to plug a hdmi cable from the laptop to the tv - picture shows - but no sound.

Any ideas?

Tried looking in the sound controls - and shows no option in the output section etc.

Might need separate sound cable from computer to TV. Waits for RAMchyld....

HDMI should cover both outputs.

Really silly, but make sure the sounds on the Mac is on (yes, I've done it before).

Nope

The sound will play through the laptop while it is plugged in - but still not able to get it to go through the cable to the tv.

Do you have a reciever as well or is it just straight to the tv?

Straight to the TV - And yes - the screen shows on the tv fine - and the sound works because it plays through the laptop - done a couple tutorials - and also gone to preferences - sound - output, etc.. Doesn't show any option for the cable.

We have this problem when taking a ps3 to a new tv with a an HDMI, nephews brought ps3 and couldn't get sound to work. 

Looked it up and it has something to do with a copyright recognition thing, handshake i think it was called, sounds like that kinda thing might be happening here. 

Never did sort it out.  Hope someone has an answer, would love to know since I also use macs.
