So I just got my first BJD... (wig help?)

So, it was kind of an impulse thing. BJD's are much too pricey and fancy for me and I swore I'd never own one since there's no way I'd ever be able to afford the only doll I'd seen who was worth his price tag. (Soom Aloa...*swoon*) But I randomly discovered Resinsoul/Bobobie and their reasonable prices quite recently, and fell in love with their dolls, and long story short I now own a MSD Mei

I ordered her from DenverDoll, and she arrived much quicker than I'd expected. I hadn't even picked out a wig to order for her yet! So now she's here, and this lovely girl needs hair! Which is where my immediate problem lies. From what I've read, Mei wears a size 6-7 wig. But all my favorite wigs are size 7-8. Can Mei wear a 7-8 wig, or would it be too big for her? Would her long ears pose a problem?

I found an ebay wig that I think she'd look nice in, but it's a 7-8. I can only really afford to get her one wig for now, so I'd hate to get it and have it not fit...but I'd also hate to have to settle for one I don't really love, too. If only Leekeworld's shipping wasn't so high...talk about beautiful wigs!

Also, I wonder if any of you have Meis you'd like to show off? I'd love to see her sculpt with different colors and styles of hair to get a better feel for how different wigs would look on her!

Congrats on your first BJD, Calico!  It's a slippery slope, I always thought they were too expensive, but now I own 4 (for a total of $1,025 ).  RS has really nice dolls for the price, I have always liked Mei.  She was going to be my non-anthro BJD until I bought my Molly and then just went for it and splurged on my Soom Beyla.

A lot of people here own Mei, so I think they can answer your wig question for you.  Maybe it would work with a wig cap?

Are you on any of the facebook groups? A lot of them sell BJD wigs on there too! Though the only problem with getting your mei a wig that is to big is her ears. Usually the problem can be fixed with a wig cap like Zenna suggested but I noticed on my elf eared ones their ears get me in trouble! *shakes fist*

Though say good bye your wallet. They've been stealing mine for far to long. :c (Even takes away from my pony money!)

There's probably a California BJD group on facebook.  There's a Colorado one and that's where I get a lot of my information, support, and bad influences lol.

Thanks Zenna! I wondered about a wig cap...I have no idea how much that would change the size of her head. I've seen a few BJDs from a distance at anime conventions but my new Mei is the first one I've so much as touched, I'm super super new to this lol. I'd love it if a wig cap would be enough to make a 7-8 wig fit on her though.

Oh man you're so doomed. :c If it makes you feel better I can tell you just how much I have spent on dolls so you can tell yourself, "I'll never been like that loon!" Because this hobby... it owns my soul. Also the price that I have listed is just for the dolls themselves, no eyes, wigs, face-ups or anything. I mean how much is $200 in the long run anyways right?

I use to own a Mei and 7/8 wigs are gonna be much to big for her. Exspecially where she has the elf ears. I had purchased a 7/8 for a Dal that I owned and still have the wig and it looked funny to me.

Congrats! Mei is a lovely sculpt; she has such a serene face. A wig cap may help, but I'm afraid a 7/8 might still be a little large on her. I had a Sprite and her 7/8 wig was way too big and fit funny over her elf ears. What kind of wig to you want for her? There are so many wig sellers out there, and you can even have wigs custom made!

Well, much as I hate to hear it, I appreciate the bad new, lol. I'd hate to buy a beautiful new wig that my doll can't wear, and since she is my only doll, if it doesn't fit her, I'm out of luck Vertefae, thanks for the link! Unfortunately it looks like DenverDoll's stock of Leeke wigs is pretty limited in their color choices. My doll has the light tan skin, so my first choice for her would be a white (or near-white) wig. This is the wig I'd had my eye on, just an ebay wig.

Oh god I love white wigs on tan dolls. q_q Are you on DoA at all to join in on a group order? I know my local group does group orders a lot so if you'd like I can let you piggy back so you don't have to pay as much shipping. (Heck I'd even pay shipping from me to you for another one of your beautiful drawings. <3)

I'm not on DoA...that community is very intimidating and I know I'd never have the guts to actually post, lol. I have done some lurking around, but there's not a ton you can access without being a member. I'd be very interested in taking you up on your offer to piggyback on your next group wig order though! Gah, Leekeworld wigs are too ridiculously pretty!

I forsee this doll becoming a money pit after all though Already spending about three times as much as I planned just on EYES! "Oh, I don't need nice ones, just super cheap ones from ebay will be fi--OOOOH LOOK AT THE FANCY ONES!"
