Alternatives to Photobucket?

Ok, so the new Photobucket is driving me up a wall and I can't stand it So does anyone know any other free image hosting sites that might be worth using?

Sign up for an imgur account. It's free and stupid easy, and you can keep track of your uploads. A free account is limited to 250 uploads, but if you need to upload something to post on a forum and forget it, anonymous uploads are free and unlimited, though they're capped off at 2MBs.

Conversely, register a domain and get some hosting. I pay like $60 a year for three URLs, and more bandwidth and storage than I'll ever use.

... I don't think you have to keep the new version of Photobucket... I remember logging in a month back and going 'Why is Pb turning into Facebook and changing stuff?? Oh hey, there's a link to go back to the old version!' *Clicks* Though maybe it expired? Just remember being happy I didn't have to keep the new version. At least Pb was smart in that regard.

The option to use their old version expires March 18.

I feel your pain! I'm actually working on a website right now for my sales and collection pics because I hate the new Photobucket. I'm using Webs.com and so far I like it!

I had switched back to the old PB, but for whatever reason they decided to switch me to the new one on March 1st I thought I still had some time left but nooooo, they decided to be awful about it I have so many pictures on there too, not just of my collection but of all my 'for sale' stuff as well, so I need plenty of upload slots

I've never gotten along with any of the free image hosting I tried. I have had my own domain for 10+ years, so that's all I use now.

I just discovered an aspect of PB that's really changed and I cannot really function within the change. It add "gibberish" to the file name of the image I upload. I deleted the image and then re-uploaded it just to see what happens. The gibberish was different. So I will be unable to overwrite images with updated version. NOT useful for my "growing" adoptables like the advent/menorah candles that light up frequently. Or if someone wanted to make a hatching egg kind of adoptable.

I was hoping to just grumble through the new PB but otherwise try my best to put up with it. But if I cannot overwrite my changeable adoptables, I will have to abandon ship.

So, while taking one of PB's surveys (in which I complained, a lot), they 'so generously' gave me a list of other image hosting sites in a question about 'what other sites have you used'. I figured I'd share them They had MySpace on their list, but really, that's just not going to be a viable option for me.

SDS - There's an option in Photobucket's User Settings under Privacy that allows you to turn off the scrambling of the filenames.  I had a few files that got uploaded like that awhile ago and managed to find the option to turn it off.  I just checked and mine are still uploading without the "gibberish."  See if changing that fixes it for you.

Thanks for the list Glacia.  I'll be checking those out - so far I haven't found a site to replace Photobucket that will work for me.  All my files are out of order right now - I can't find anything!  I opted out of the new site twice filling out a survey expressing my displeasure each time and found another survey to yell at them through again the other day when they switched me over once more without the otion to opt out this time.

Thanks Breyer, I will look for that option. I know I also filled out that survey (multiple times) saying DON'T DO THIS TO ME!!!!!! but I'm slated to be permanently changed on the 18th.

Thanks glacia, I will also check out the list. I know I've tried a few alternatives in the past but was never sold on them. But I see ones I haven't tried on your list.
