G1 My Little Pony Enamel Pins by Irwin- any info?

Hello, my pony lovers! 


Please forgive the shoddy photos, they were taken on my iPhone.


I would say it is common knowledge that the pride and joy of my MLP collection is my merchandise, particularly the little treasures like these! I would love some information on these pins.

These 2 pins are gold tone enamel, and the brand on the back says Irwin, 1984 Hasbro:

Does anyone know more about these pins? What other ponies did they come out with, besides Cotton Candy and Bow Tie?

I've seen Applejack, owned by another local collector so sadly I have no picture, but she was in her traditional Y2/3 pose, same as Bow-Tie there. At least I can only assume it was the same brand, similar gold edges with multiple enamel colors.

The only one I knew of was the Cotton Candy.

Irwin were a Canadian toy company who both manufactured and distibuted within the Canadian market. They didnt hold the rights to distribute MLP but they did have a license for producing some merchandise of which these pins were an example. So I believe thsse were only sold in Canada.

Sorry I dont have a note of who else they made.

That makes sense- Some of my favorite merchandise has the Irwin logo on the cards somewhere. I now can vaguely remember a MOC applejack one on ebay maybe a year or so ago.

I'm obsessed with this stuff.

never seen those before! well Irwin toys were released in the USA, so they could have been released in gift shops here or something in the 80's. nice find whitney

Add me to the "never seen them before" list! I really like enamel pins, so I'm kinda surprised that I've never seen these. A fabulous find!
