I used to have a horse, he was also a total cutie pie (strawberry leopard) - but oh so much work, and he really did eat like a horse! These days I stick with kitties and if I feel the need, will visit my sisters' horses. Of course I have always wanted a Clydesdale- but I bet they eat an awful lot... Oh man eat a lot, tell me about it. Tris I have never known a horse eat so much as him I mean he used to race back when but not for years and he is 22 ish now and still hunts a full season each year. But last year when I started on the yard I was second in command as it would be. and we had so much trouble getting him to eat anything either hay or hard feed. once after I had been away for a week I went to look in his manger and it was full (literally) of the last three days feeds. But my boss and everyone else said that he was just fussy and it was normal. Then summer comes my boss gets fired and I take over. Heck I can tell you he weights 1243lbs now and has since the end of September. Most of his weight is muscle and not fat so I am not worried. In one day he gets as much hay as he can eat and three bucket feeds. (he hunts 2-3 times a week so needs the energy) I don't know why he has just started to eat for me but everyone says he looks better than ever. Sadly with summer comming he does not weather out that well I mean I have to keep three weights of rug in the car so if I see him and it is raining I need to go out and put it on. last year it was funny (to any on looker) there is me in a major down poor Tris in hand next to the car boot open. Monty (his old BBF) next to us watching. And as I manage to throw the rug on to tris's back Grabbing it with his teeth and pulling it off before I could fasten it on to the horse. four times this happened. In the end I had to take the rope off tris try and hold him by the headcollor put the rug on from the wrong side, and when monty tried to grab the rug literally throw the rope at him. (which did not help as I missed) but he must have got tris's bottom as he kicked at him (thankfully) why do I work with horses again?????
