Do you consider these -real- My Little Pony?
« on: February 24, 2013, 06:25:22 PM »
Do you consider ponies like the Dream Beauties and the Takaras (The real ones, not the fakie babies) to be real My Little Ponies? I mean I know they're released under the My Little Pony name and all... But I can't see them as real MLPs, sorry. :/ They just don't have the same feel to them.

Although that being said I would still kill to get my hands (erm, hooves) on a Takara. xDD

What're your feelings on them?

When I was little, and G2s came out-- I claimed that they were not ponies because... they didn't look like ponies. My dad pointed out the logo, and I said I didn't care. I through a very large fit in the store. ... LOL.

So to me, ponies come in many shapes and sizes. I do find Takaras (babies included) to be My Little Ponies. They have names, like to dress up in ponywear, and have hair to comb, it says MLP on the box. *shrug*

Anything sold under the My Little Pony brand by Hasbro would be 'real' My Little Pony.

Of course we don't have to buy it all or want it but it doesn't make it any less of a MLP.

So yes, any pony being sold by hasbro as a My Little Pony IS a My Little Pony.
Probably doesn't own a stolen piece of the Taj Mahal.

Of course I would consider them part of the MLP collection-  but personally, I'd also consider them cousins (like delegates from Saddle Arabia or some such).   I still think they are awesome.  Of course I love all things colored-plastic horses (except barbie horses on principle)

So yes, any pony being sold by hasbro as a My Little Pony IS a My Little Pony.

By that reasoning Takaras and lots of Nirvanas would be fakies, since they were not sold by Hasbro.

To answer the OP: if I say Mlp I don't mean Dream Beauties and such, but I realize they are just as much part of the Mlp line, yes.

I like the Dream Beauties, they fill a comfortable nice between mooshy-cute, vinyl ponies, and my larger Barbie style horses. I would love to own all of them.

I do view them (and the petites, and the Takaras) as MLP, in the same way I view Nirvana ponies other than Takara as MLP, they're just a nice sideline to the main range of ponies.
