I just started The Family by Mario Puzo. It's about the Borgias, a 15th century corrupt pope and his kids.

I'm reading three books at the moment.

"Foxe’s Acts and Monuments of the Christian Church", (also known as "Foxe's Book of Martyrs.")
... Basically about Christians who put their money where their mouths were when it comes to being faithful, even though it cost them their lives (usually quite brutally).

"The Adventures of Tom Sawyer", by Mark Twain.
... basically about a mischievous boy who gets others to whitewash the fence and other interesting adventures. It's my first time reading through it, and I want to see what happens about Injun Joe (if anything).

The third one is a 40-day devotional book for women seeking healing.

The Infernal Devices By Cassandra Clare. It's about................ Ummmm........ Well..... It's hard to explain in a way that will make sense....... It's about Shadow Hunters who fight demons, and warlocks, and vampires, and ghosts, and....the list of "monsters" goes on and on. Mostly though it's about a girl trying to figure out what she is, a girl who hates what she is, a boy trying to hide who he is, and a boy trying to survive.

I'm reading Lovesick Blues: The Life of Hank Williams, which is about...well, Hank Williams!

I'm also still trying to read the second book of A Song of Ice and Fire but my concentration isn't great lately and the book is really dense. I'll get there though! And then...somehow manage the rest of the series.

To The Ends of the Earth. It's about the history of maps. Did you know, that the first world atlas was pieced together by a dude in Italy in 1570?

Now you do!

I also picked up a nifty book about weather phenomenon. The first known photo of a tornado was taken in 1884!

That's cool. I know we take maps for granted, but sometimes I try to think about what it takes to make a map back in the day, without modern technology. Makes one head swim, actually.

And The Band Played On
Hella good record of the AIDS epidemic of the 80s, factors of the time that allowed it to spread so quickly, and how the refusal of the public to acknowledge it made it so devastating. Presented very well, too.

I'd heard of the film but hasn't realised it was a book! I will have to add this to my list of books to hunt down eventually.

I just finished "The wizards first rule: The sword of truth" by Terry Goodkind. This book was great!! I'm about to start book two and there are 11 in the series plus a prequil.  I'm so glad I have so many more to go! It should keep me busy for awhile. I'm not sure how to describe it. So far there is magic, true love, adventure, evil, secrets, and even a dragon. :o

That actually sounds really interesting! Both of them!

Sounds interesting, I'll have to add that to my list.
I just finished The Memory Keepers Daughter last night. It's about a couple who has twins, one with Downs Syndrome, in 1964. I work with special needs babies, and it's amazing how much things have changed.

An unabridged version of Bambi by Felix Salten. Basically, it covers Bambi's life from fawn to adult, and the trials he faces along the way. Aside from a few characters and situations, it's very different from the Disney movie.

Once I'm done with that one, I'll be working on Ranger's Apprentice - The Burning Bridge by John Flanagan.
