Has anyone else tried customizing a Design-A-Pony?
« on: February 16, 2013, 09:11:45 PM »
Today I bought one of the new Design-A-Ponies (Rainbow Dash) like the one below:

I want to paint her mane as it appears in the show, but as you can see she comes with a bunch of designs printed all over her.  I can easily paint over the ones on her mane and wings, but the ones on her body won't come off with acetone nail polish.

Any advice on how to get them off? Do I just have to try pure acetone or is there something else I could use?

Get 100% acetone. It can be found in most drug stores right next to the other nail polish remover :)

I was struggling with nail polish remover for the longest!!! But then purchased a bottle of 100% acetone (.99 at walmart) and works like a charm ;)

Yeah, I'd recommend the 100% acetone too.

would you recommend 100% acetone over Goo Gone? I've been wondering about that lately.

Goo Gone is messy and time consuming compared to acetone, imo. :)

I'm customizing one at the moment and removed everything with cellulose thinner but I'm sure acetone would be almost the same =)

I just saw these in the store today... I didn't realize they were fashion style size! Woah that's a nice big canvas.

I used Winsor & Newton brush cleaner to remove the black outlines on mine.

I say take the wings off, paint it green give it a pink mane and tail and some mints on the butt and then you have a winner.
