Toy Fair Review of MLP
« on: February 15, 2013, 09:11:13 AM »
I found this video on youtube and I thought I'd share - MLP starts at about the 3:50 mark in the video.

At the 5:10 mark you will get to see the Giant Twilight Sparkle and why it's going to be much more expensive than the regular talking ponies like Celestia and Cadence.

Not a whole lot, the good thing about it is they show the Giant Celestia talking and moving her head and eyes blinking, etc. And you can see the size because a lady picks her up and kinda plays with her a little bit.

Thanks for posting-

I do wish it was a bit brighter in the booth-  hard to see much with that terrible lighting.    I guess that GIGANTIC plastic alicorn is just a prop- given that she is nearly human size...

I am looking forward to seeing the talking one in person (at Target).  I hope she flies to the clearance shelf quickly!

I believe the gigantic Twilight sparkle you are talking about is a prop, yes, a floor prop part of the toy fair MLP display.

The electronic one that follows the first presentation of pony stuff to me on my monitor is really easy to see and is fine. I can tell her head moves, I can sort of hear her talking and I def. saw her eyes move and she has blinking lights which isn't much different than the talking Cadence or Celestia; TS's horn lights up and apparently she's supposed to learn to fly if you roll her or something; at least that what the lady in the video is doing.

She looks really cool, but strikes me as one of those toys that would be great for kids and not for collectors--unless you took the batteries out of course. Imagine being woken up at 12 AM by princess Twilight coming to life and shouting 'WHEEEEE'!

Hmm I think I am more disappointed than excited. For some reason, Twilly's head looks big and round on that skinny little body.

I wonder how well she is going to sell. I do not know to many people that would spend that much on a talking pony. But then I also might be wrong....

Opps, meant Twilight not Celestia. Yea...I'm not quite that blind yet.

It depends on 'what' she actually does. If it's more interactive then it might be cool but if she's more like Celestia and Cadence and just says the same things over and over then...meh, I don't know, it could get boring.

It'd be cool if you could hook her up to a mp3 player and she'd bob her head to music and wings and horn would light up with the music. But they never said anything about that so I doubt it does that...I'm just saying it would be cool if it did.

Thanks for posting :)

Anyone else find it odd, or disconcerting, that a tour round an MLP booth starts at the merchandise and provides more information to the audience on the merch/licensees than on the toys?

Yea, and the fact that they hardly showed anything plus a lot of it I've seen before. I don't get excited about lunch boxes...do kids get excited about lunch boxes? LOL! I mean, yea fine it's cool but I want ponies, not hats, lunchboxes and dodads.

Yes! This is exactly where I am coming from. All the images of the booth looked as though the display was heavily merch lead. I would shrug it off but it does worry me.
