To sell or not to sell or when you fall in love with the wrong pony

So, I recently got my hands on a gorgeous G1 birthflower Holly. The alternate one. Now I've never been interested in this set. I like them, have been tempted to get the two versions of Cosmos (my month) and I think some of the alternate ones are really pretty, but no. They've never been among those ponies I just HAD to have, so when I got her I was like "Jackpot! This will get me money for another Weta Hobbit figurine." (I'm hooked on Weta's Hobbit products, but that's obviously off topic).

..but then I looked at her..

Gosh, she is just so pretty and sweet and and... she's a christmas-y pony and I love christmas and christmas-y ponies.

Now I don't know what to do.
Selling her have always been the idea. Even before I got her I've been thinking that if I ever came across a pony like that I would sell it and get other ponies I really want (or something else hobby-related), but she's just so pretty..

Have anyone else tried this? What did you end up doing?

I haven't exactly experienced this yet.  I would wait sweetie.  If it turns out that you really like this pony you'll probably regret getting rid of her.  I'd hate to have gotten a rare pony at a good price and sell her and then decide to re-buy her for an outrageous price.  I hope that makes sense.  However, this is your choose so do what you feel is right !

This has happened to me but only with more common ponies. So my decision to keep them was relatively easy.

I'd keep her. I found myself in a similar situation with the same pony but the way I see it - I would never be able to afford her normally so this is the only way to have her so why not hold onto her. And yeah, she really is pretty!

I have accidentally fallen in love with ponies before. It's very dangerous.

 I would keep her personally.  I would regret selling her later.

I would keep her, too!! I also recommend waiting a while and taking your time to decide. Better safe than sorry.

Personally for a pony that could be sold and get me so many more cheaper ponies or just so much money for a plastic pony. I would take lots of different pictures of her so I'd have pics in case of a thread like "lets see your favorite green ponies". Then I'd get a G1 Minty or a repro Minty (better color match with repro I think), and just give her a new symbol that matches Holly. In fact, you just gave me a great idea with my repro Minty.

Id hang on to her for a while and think about it... after all the hobbit figures are relatively new and dont cost an arm and leg yet..t his lil lady is kinda hard to come by..

ha ha I've never bought a pony to sell or make money off of so I can't imagine how you feel! My pony collection is so small that ANY pony I get has ALWAYS been one I don't have! *swoon*

Here's my take, if it's a rare item, or just one so sought after it's pricey and in gorgeous shape I keep it. I've sold things like this in the past and experienced sellers regret. Things in poorer condition but find I LOVE that pony I sell. I don't fully appreciate or display poorer condition stuff anyway so I rehome/sell so someone can beautify her, or enjoy her as is.  I usually end up hunting down a better condition example of that pony almost immediately after though.

Honestly I would keep her. She is not a pony easy to come across or cheap to pick up, so I think before you sell you really do need to think super long and hard about it.

Perhaps you can do the out of sight out of mind trick. Send her to stay elsewhere for a little while - be that with a family member or in a cupboard...do you miss her not being on display or do you forget you even have her? Where you fall on that scale is going to be a good starting point on whether you really wish to keep her or not.

i'm not much  one for flutters or wingers. but i  found a beautiful small  winger at  the flea market   sevreal motnhs back.   and i just competlly fell in love with her and kept her.   so yeah i'd wait and if you do like her keep her

I have not had that with ponies yet, but I did with some Breyer horses a few times
