Old stuff here
old threadThings are turning out a little better if they continue to go in this direction. I'm intending on moving back to the town I lived in before sometime over the summer. It's thirty minutes from my parents house, so my horses will be able to stay with my parents for now. I'll help with the upkeep of my horses and bills ect, but since dad has such a big area there is no reason to really move them away.
Every year multiple times a year my dad has this sort of "round up" type of thing on a smaller scale. His buddies come over and they round up the cattle either through roping or driving up into a pen. They make sure they are wormed, get shots and are branded for the younger ones. They also get all the horses together and make sure they receive their up to date medications.
The little stud horse I had discussed with my dad they got up to geld him since he's reached an age for it. They were worried about handling him considering other than being drove into a chute they really haven't handled him before. One of his friends ended up roping him, and I was told he didn't really fight it up. The man even after a short period got a halter on him and started leading him around. I was told in general he just seemed very curious and level headed for a horse that's never been handled before and some of my dad's friends took a great interest in him after that. I'm hoping it's a sign that my horse I wasn't completely set on has a great brain between those ears and will take to training. Also it's encouraging that I might go ahead and start ground working myself this summer till I can find/afford a trainer to finish him. Hooray horse!
