That's really cool :D It's neat to find out we still pay $4.99 (approximately) for ponies today :)

Yeah but we buy them used XD

Aww, all the memories :) It's funny to see Easy Bake Oven in the 70's was $10.99 and now they're $40 and Cabbage Patch Kids in the 80's were $19.00 and now they're also $40 XD

The fact that the cost of ponies has not increased dramatically despite across the board increases in everything else probably explains the dramatic DE-crease in quality/detail/unique molds.

Yup this is exactly it. Whenever it is raised about variety, size or quality, I always think we need to remember that ponies have gone from being special expensive toys to cheaper pocket money prices.

Yes the puffy US stickers have a vanilla-ish scent to them although I have heard a lot of people describe the scent more as a baby powder.

Wow! I'm a 90's kid, so it's weird to think that these advertisements are older than me, yet I collect and play with them.

It's nice to know that things like this are enjoyed for a long time by many different generations of children (and adults!) makes me happy to be a toy collector. :3c

I remember when I got my Rosedust - all the flutter ponies were $4.99, but Rosedust for whatever reason was $6.99!  I had to be sneaky, because mom wouldn't have let me get her otherwise. Twin sets were ... around $11.99 or so?

Some ponies were more than others but it depended on the year because the prices varied; it also depended on which store you bought them in.

But the ponies they have pictured, Moodancer, Firefly, that set in 1983-84, I am almost sure mine were under $4 each. I'll have to go back and look at my backcard.

I'm gonna check out my backcards and see if I still have the pricetags on them :)

Probably doesn't own a stolen piece of the Taj Mahal.

In Canada the prices ranged from about 5.99 to 6.99 for the single ponies( more if you bought at TRU) I remember saving up my allowance/chore money to buy bluebell and firefly and it took me a long time but I was 5/6 yrs old so it was a lot of money then!  LOL

Hehe!  It is a fun site, huh!   I found it when I was trying to figure out how much Jem and the Holograms dolls cost in the 1980's.
