What is the price $4.99? I'm assuming they mean the price back then but ponies were originally cheaper than that, I remember prices being under $4 each.

I think it took me back to my memories of my childhood with all those toys.

I think they were cheaper than $4.99-  my mom said she switched from Strawberry Shortcake to ponies because we liked them better, and they were only a couple of dollars at Target.  I think I still have a MOC pony with a $2.99 or so price tag...

Still, they were probably $4.99 at the pricier establishments- what those would be, I'm not sure (private toy stores?)   

The fact that the cost of ponies has not increased dramatically despite across the board increases in everything else probably explains the dramatic DE-crease in quality/detail/unique molds.

Ooooooh me too.   I used to go through the Sears book for hours.

I think they were $4.99 at Sears as I remember having to save about $6 for a new pony.  Took forever.  But I'm sure prices dropped when they needed to make room for new stuff.
