Now I am wondering whether to debox or not?  ^.^ Also feel free to show yours if you have any repro barbies :) I'm curious to see what other ones are out there.

She is so cool!!! I'd probably be undecided on whether to open her or not too.

So cool, I didn't know they made a Barbie like that. Congrats!

Deboxing is always a matter of whether you will keep her or maybe sell her later. If you are keeping her, there's no decreased value to take into consideration, just display her as you want!

She's cool!  Her box is super pretty-  I might open her up but keep her on display in the box since it looks so neat.

Thanks for your help everyone :)

As its a gift from my brother I will never sell it so I guess it won't matter if I open it :) it's just that she has this plastic band thing around her head and it look weird and is annoying me which is why I want to take her out :P

I love that one!  As I go through phases of my Barbie collecting, the repro Barbies always seem to be the ones I never want to part with.  There are a lot of really neat releases out there, but here are some of my favorites.

I have this actual vintage dress, but I just love the little accessories in this set!

I really wanted this set when it first came out, but it was way too expensive for my parents to buy for me.  A few years ago, I hunted one down on ebay.

This is my favorite release from the My Favorite Barbie line.  I have all of the single dolls from this set (only missing the Wedding Day set), but this doll is just gorgeous.

As for deboxing or not, that's really up to you.  Are you planning on using her to display other outfits?  Do you have other dolls that you keep MIB?  I am an in box collector, so that's how I keep most of my dolls.  Then again, I have my vintage Barbies to dress up and play with.   ^.^  All these recent Barbie threads have reminded me that I haven't taken any pictures of dolls I've gotten in the past two years.  I really need to get on that!

Gorgeous collection!!!!! That twist n turn is amazing! :dribble:

I usually keep dolls boxed too...I think if I just open it and take the plastic off her head but keep her in the box..... Do you think that's ok? :) like I said before I'll never sell because it has sentimental value.

I think it would be fine.  If it was a doll that I knew for sure I was going to keep, moving things around in the box for cosmetic issues sounds like a better choice than deboxing.  :)

I have a couple of repros and the astronaut is still for sale at my local Toys R Us. I've been eyeing her, but they've never put her on a reasonable sale price. Congrats on your new girl! And happy b-day! *has a jelly*  :satisfied:

She's so beautiful! I'd love to have one of my own, one day. I'd say if you're not going to sell her, take her out, then you can take the plastic off her head, etc. So long as you're careful opening the box :)

Here are my repro dolls (hope you don't mind all the photos...):

50th Anniversary Barbie 2009 by Andi B. Goode, on Flickr
I got this one before I even started collecting Barbie, again, because I'd wanted a ponytail Barbie ever since I was little and was excited when they released these. She's still in her box - I love these displays because you can lift the front off without having to debox her.

Campus Spirit Barbie & Ken 2008 by Andi B. Goode, on Flickr
Campus Spirit Barbie & Ken - I had to open the box because Barbie's earring had fallen out & I ripped the box a bit.

She's from one of the early 90s Solo in the Spotlight sets (wearing a vintage Barbie dress).

My Favorite Barbie 1962. This one will probably be deboxed one day because I need to fix her hair.

Titian ponytail from the "Let's Play Barbie" set and repro Ken from the 'My Favorite Barbie' line. The Barbie is called Connie & Ken is her brother, Vincent. ;)

2 repro Francies - probably the only way I'll ever afford a No Bangs Francie. Left is Dee Dee, right is Lulu ;)

And repro Peaches 'n' Cream Barbie.

And there are a lot more on my wishlist, too. I would love one of these. Oh and I've pre-ordered the Barbie/Midge set that's being released for Midge's 50th birthday, this year. I can't wait!!!

Cool thanks for the advice :) I took the band off her head and she looks better now but her hair is CRUNCHY like it has the styling product they use on monster high dolls..... :argh: maybe it will brush out.... I really don't want to have to completely debox her.

My good friend has the same doll, the 1965 Astronaut Barbie repro and loves her, so do I. My friend also deboxed her(got an amazing deal I think she was on clearance) and the hair was also a stiff mess. But we found out that if you simply wash out the gunk, it should become nice and fluffy like. So I'd try that if the stiff hair bugs you too much, I have done it with other repro's and it's worked out nice. But of course you could only really do that by completly deboxing her but I would recomend trying to find a way to get the hair a bit wet so that it'd fluff out, and you wouldn't destroy the whole box. If that makes since. And congrats on your new doll :)!
