Wish me Luck: Wampa Ghoul WIP
« on: February 05, 2013, 08:05:53 PM »
Hey everybody!

I bought a Scaris Abbey bait (Okay, a little eye wonk; probably could have been baitier I'M SORRY WORLD) from the lovely Saply, and I've begun the process of transforming her into a Wampa.

I know, I know. Basically, it'll be Abbey with horns and a new faceup. It's the only thing that I could think of that would make sense with the sparkly blue complexion, though!

So far, I've been able to remove all of her hair. When there are huge puddles of glue, it can be really hard to dehair without reaming out the plugs. I'll post more pictures as this project progresses, as I'm really looking forward to having my very first custom MH doll!

So far, I have learned this:

1) Hemostat
2) Goo-Gone
3) I feel like Sid from Toy Story

I made some horns for her out of Sculpey. I know that these curled ram-style horns aren't quite like a Wampa's, but I like the way they look! :)

Oh wow, she's going to be gorgeous!!  I can't wait to see!  (What did you use to wipe her face off?  Acetone?)

Haha,  I could've done to explain this earlier! Sorry about that; I'm usually surrounded by crazy Star Wars fans! ;)

Wampas are creatures from Star Wars- Luke Skywalker has a run- in with one in "The Empire Strikes Back." They're super freaky looking , so heres a cute plush version instead: http://media.80stees.com/images/products/Star-Wars-Wampa.jpg

I'm a little anxious about the face-up! I used acetone to remove the original paint, and I'm keeping it handy! MH is much trickier than ponies.

What an awesome idea!! I love the old Star Wars trilogy
Can't wait to see more of her. You need to customize another Abbey into a TaunTaun and make them a couple. That would be hilarious *g*

D'omg, I really should do that, shouldn't I!? :D

Thanks for checking my thread out, everybody! I'm trying to get the face on there now. I wanted to create her faceup with pastels, but I kept smudging them around in every way but what I wanted. Chalk pastels take to the face very well... Almost too well!

I haven't got a WIP thread but I've finished her face up and body, horns need to be sanded.  Just waiting on a wig to come in

Awesome! I can't wait to see yours when it's done!

Check it out, guys. She's got a face now!

And I'm still learning things:
- Pencil sharpeners work better than X-acto knives.
- Watercolor pencils work best when you wet them.
- It's a bad idea to spray Dullcote in the snow.

... I'm probably going to wipe her face off and try again sometime, but this'll do for now. It looks alright when I take my glasses off. :P
