Facebook Page Scam

I ran across a My Little Pony scam on Facebook today, and I wanted to let everyone know about it. There's a page titled "My Little Pony Fans" at http://www.facebook.com/pages/My-Little-Pony-Fans/415350568547399 that is paying for promotion on Facebook. The ad they're featuring leads to a survey which promises to give you MLP "rewards". The survey is a trap to capture your email and mobile phone number, and to sign you up for a horoscope service that costs $9.99 a month. I've reported this page to Facebook, but in the meantime, I wanted to warn away anyone who might be seeing this same ad in their news feed.

Personally, I don't seek out any MLP fan pages on Facebook anymore, especially since they tend to get rude at times, but noted with thanks anyway.

I would suggest people try to avoid clicking on the link at all to be honest but its worth being aware of the problem

I filled out the survey but when it asked for my cellphone # I was like "NOPE". I made the mistake of giving out my number awhile back and that was a HUGE mistake.

i saw this a coupel dys ago. i blocked it off my feed and reported it as well. they are using picures  one of them is  from hot  topic.

Yet another reason why I very quickly gave up Facebook......
Call me old-fashioned - but I don't like it at all. I can e-mail or ring my friends safely without all the modern Cyber-space troubles!

If stickied it will be missed - as people can be sticky blind. It can bump up and down the forum and get attention.

Unfortunately this kind of scam happens when things get popular - I am sure its not the only one out there. We cant  do anything else other than let our fellow members know when we find out about such things and hope people are sensible enough not to give out their cell phone and email and credit card details without knowing to whom they are giving it.
