Question about those giant plushies
« on: February 02, 2013, 04:03:39 PM »
I have a giant Frilly Frocks plush who has lost her ability to stand.  I'm wanting to try to "operate" and help her stand again, but I'm wondering:  what is the best sort of "tube" to put in her legs?  Is PVC pipe ok to use?  Just want to make sure I know exactly what I'm supposed to do before I work on her.  Thank you so much for your help!! :D

I'd say anything that you can insert without causing obvious damage to her would be fine! Perhaps you could even help her stand up better by putting more stuffing in her to make her a bit more firm? Large bags of stuffing are pretty inexpensive.

I think PVC pipe would work great! Has she lost her ability because someone has been riding her, or just because she's "tired?" You could also remove some of the firm things from her and let her be a floppy friend! But I've never opened mine, so I don't know what's inside. Mine lives a pretty cushy life!
Thanks so much to Calico_Star for her beautiful work on my Avatar!

I've owned and restuffed several of these plush and strong cardboard tubes or pvc piping will work just fine. They originally come with cardboard tubes in their legs that aren't quite as strong.

Mine's gone a bit tired too. Good to hear strong cardboard pipes will work to keep her upright.

Thanks so much!  I'm going to get a few PVC pipes tomorrow.  Poor Frilly...nobody's ridden her, but she's just gotten tired of standing for as long as she has lol.  Maybe I'll pack her with more stuffing, too :)

I would love mine to live "the cushy life" as Aurora said, but I'm afraid if i take out the tubes I won;t be able to put her back together!  :P

Mine is okay but sadly I had some nephews who should have know better ride her once.  Something to keep in mind about replacing her tubes if she gets more tired.

I know its cardboard inside her legs initially but I am sure small pvc tubes would be much sturdier and they should simply take the place of the wilting cardboard ones. Cant wait to see if it successful cures her :)

I say go with PVC pipes :) My two giants both have just stuffing in their legs so I just have them lay down xD I prefer giants that way :)

Mine was new and in her box most of her life. But she does not stand either. I have been thinking about taking her part and redoing her like the others I have. I would love to have her stand again :)  I never thought about using pvc pipes. I thought about stuffing her more, like I did to the others.

I wonder if anyone has ever welded together a metal "skeleton" to put inside specifically so they could be ridden?
I'll put something here some time

Thanks so much for your help!  I'm currently operating on Frilly right now lol.  I do have one more question.  Her mouth has..sunk.  What's the best way to sew her sweet little mouth back onto her face?  :P

Will extra stuffing in her muzzle not fix it?
