Sig Operetta's hair :(
« on: February 02, 2013, 01:20:49 PM »
I ordered operetta when Walmart had their sale a bit ago. The box arrived and when I opened it, operettas box was crushed and broken and in a very mangle state. I figured if the doll was ok then I'm ok. I don't keep the boxes anyway.

But look at this hair.

It's just so nappy and choppy. It's horrible. The hair is super short on the top ambit looks like a three year old hacked at it with safety scissors.

Is this normal? I am just so bummed.

I think you mean Sig Operatta. But yes, that's normal. That's what my girl looked like out of the box, too. Monster high dolls often need hair help out of the box.

Mine is like that as well (though mine was second hand, I didn't open her outta box). I'm not too terribly bothered by it, personally because it seemed intentional and I restyled it.

I am also so sorry about your box being mangled! I have had that happen with the two orders for dolls I got from Walmart (and other products), actually why I urge everyone to not do ship to home from them. Thankfully some nappy box hair is all that's wrong with her!

I do mean Sig but I cannot seem to edit my post title from this app. Blah. I thought Ss was signature series. What does it mean then? I am trying to memorize all of these and failing.

Well. It's a shame that her hair is like this deliberately. I like her a lot but the hair. Man. I don't think any styling I can do will make it look decent. The back is just super short.

Do any of the other operettas have better hair that isn't all choppy? I could just get that one and swap the clothes :)

SS is skull shores, the second beach/swim line.

Styling can do a lot of good. Many people have restyled their operettas and she looks great. Just do a flickr search :)

My Operetta's hair was a rat's nest right out of the box too. I poured boiled water over it and also washed it out with conditioner and its a bit more manageable. She still needs more boiled water treatments, I think.

Mine looks that way too, which I wish it wasn't like that. Maybe if it was curled at the ends or did something other then look mangled like a angry badger ate it. And my boxes are always mashed because I shove them in my tiny locker at work if I buy them while at work. If I have time I debox them in the break room, but I usually just shove them in the locker. I don't keep boxes usually, I just cut out the pretty pictures.

Echoing this. Styling helps, even if it isn't perfect you can tame it to look nicer. My flickr album is full of Operetta, if you need some inspiration.

My signature Operettas hair was a giant nest as well. You know what I did with it? I washed it tried to style it.. failed, and put it into a pony tail instead.

I think they chopped her hair up because they wanted to showcase that black under the red:)  I like it.  Although, I think I also put some of her hair up.  I think I have her in a half pony, so maybe that's why I like it
I won't be checking this site anymore for messages.  If you need me, you can contact me at the MHArena :bigups:

I don't mind the choppiness at all, but I don't know why (or how) the material they used for her hair is such crispy poop (I hear Operetta Kohl's exclusive doll hair is very nice). Same goes for most Lagoona release's hair. Is wavy hair just that hard to replicate properly in dolly hair? o_o

My Dance Class Operetta has rather choppy hair also.  Guess I know what to expect when I get my sig Operetta from Walmart site to store, lol.  Speaking of which, that order is taking forever to arrive...
