Mucha Poppy Pony [need hair advice!]
« on: February 01, 2013, 11:13:19 PM »
I thought to make this a bit more fun I would post progress pictures of this custom I'm doing. She was originally a very baity Skydancer. She was very dirty (which I could clean), her tail was basically a dread-lock and she had letters on her hooves and a huge pink streak on one side.
Anyway, I love mucha/art nouveau style and so I decided to paint a pony in the same style. I wanted a Poppy because they match her color scheme and are pretty! I also referenced a lot of different nouveau poppy prints online to get it right.

rehairing!

Fell free to comment or make suggestions while I go! Main thing I'm working on right now is getting the right paint consistency. :)
Thanks for looking!

I'm usually not a big fan of G1 customs but I lov the design you planned for this girl! It all goes together so well!

Will a thin line of white will still be visible after you paint the symbols?

What will her hair color be?

Post more pics as you go!

A very cool art period you have chosen.  I look forward to see it done and am glad to see you base coating your design area.

I'm not 100% sure I'll leave the white. But as I go along I may change things or add things, depending on how it's looking. For example right now the colors I'm using are bright pastels and I don't know if I'll want the colors more muted or not.

Thank you for the posts :)

Okay I've got her done, I just need to rehair. The only issue is there are so many different colors I could choose and I'm not sure what to go with. Right now I have a pile of possibilities with:

-Watermelon Martini
- Tigerlilly
- Golden Delicious
- Poison Ivy
- Amethyst
- a LITTLE bit of Chocolate Pudding
- Black Magick

Any suggestions?

Golden Delicious, definitely. I don't know what the other colors look like.  >_<

Hmm....endless possibilites.  What about choosing a primary color (like Goldn Delicious) and adding little random bit of all the other colors?
