Will an Obitsu Body work with my boy? (Pics of Doll Added)
« on: January 26, 2013, 07:09:55 PM »
I'm in need of a slim 1/6 scale male Obitsu or similar body for a doll I just came in the mail today.  His original body has very limited range of motion (think 1970s Barbie body) plus it suffering from plasticizer leach and cancer.

I don't know if it will work though, first I have to get his head off and see if it will attach to that type of body.  His head is kind of line a Ken doll or GI Joe where it only turns side to side instead of being able to tilt.

I'll post some pictures tomorrow so you can see what I'm talking about.

Thank you.  The prices there are excellent too.  Now I just need to find out if his head will fit that kind of body.

I just tried his head on a MH boy body but his head is too large for it.

Here's Charlie Chaplin (not Hitler, please don't compare them).  I have his clothes but they're being washed.

This is the first doll that I'm uncomfortable taking the head off because it's modeled after a real live person.

Sorry about the crappy pics, the sun has set and my camera doesn't take good pics indoors at night.

Anyway I hope this gives everyone an idea whether or not an Obitsu will work for him.

Lets try this again.

Hey, it worked and didn't combine my posts.  February is going to be 'Finish my Dolly Projects Month.'  So expect more dumb questions from me.

I doubt that an Obitsu would work with that kind of head. The head would prolly eat the neck and look really strange. Maybe look in to something like a neckless 1/6 slim action figure body? There are different connectors to work with different kinds of heads, but I don't have much experience with them.  :wonder:

If you search eBay for 1/6 action figure bodies and decide to get one, be sure that it comes with hands and feet. A lot of sets are completely taken apart and sold in pieces... I almost made that mistake when ordering an ACI Gladiator body. Not sure if your head follows it, but you might want to try out this site:

I wonder if the head can be pushed down onto the neck peg?  You may have to shave the inside of the head down so it can fit.

I was wondering this too.

I need to talk to a friend who makes garage kits, I'm sure he'd have some good ideas too.  He does a lot of modding of action figure bodies and making custom parts.

Or... Maybe you could only change the arms and legs for obitsu/other kind that have more joints and keep the torso?  >_<

Sorry if this sounds weird, but I'm aways doing some "Frankenstein" experience to my dolls ^^'' Using different parts of different dolls to make what I want and so...

I wouldn't know if an Obitsu would work for this anyway .__.' Maybe...

Have you thought about the Fashionista Ken bodies? They have pretty good range of motion for a playline doll and I think their neck joint is the same as Charlie's.

I think a Liv jake body would be best suited for that head.
