First two customs (lots of photos)

Well, I made Rainbow Dash and Sweetie Belle. Their hair is sculpted with Apoxie, painted with acrylics, and sealed with Mod Podge.
I decided to upload multiple views not because they look good at all those angles (flaws aplenty!), but because I REALLY would like some constructive criticism. PLEASE. I appreciate compliments, but criticism will help me improve! These are only my first two, after all, and I plan to continue making more.

Firstly, you did a great job for a first time  Have you molded anything before?

I'm a noob when it comes to customs (I did only three so far, all with sculpted mane and tail). I would recommend that you try to thin out the tail on the part where it attaches to the body. I had problems with thick tails when I did multi-coloured ones. I solved it by not attaching all the colours to the body. Instead I made one "central" lock of hair and attached other shorter and generally smaller locks to it and made them look like they are just visible parts.

I know why I didn't make the tail so thin, though. It's because I forgot to secure some wire in the body before I glued the heads back on.
You're right about simplifying it, though.

I've molded some things before, but never hair. And I have limited experience with Apoxie.

Well done for your first two trys, but you need to take a few moments when working with the apoxie to get it smooth and make sure there are no finger prints or rough spots.  You can use water or rubbing alcohol to get it smooth or Aves sells a product called smoothon that works wonderfully.  You can also use fine sand paper to take out the rough spots.  All in all though keep up the great work.

I also agree in regards to the tail, your in real horse terms dock is too thick.  One way to make it thinner is to use a piece of wire for support, and the use some foil wrapped over the wire to make your shape and then cover in the apoxie.

Sorry for the time it took me to get the pictures, the pony is at my friend's.
Anyway, I didn't use any wire support or anything similar, but I lightly connected the tail to the legs and butt instead. I also made tail little higher than the hole so as to get the look that "hair" falls on the parts where it is connected to the body.
I don't suggest this if you don't know what you are doing (like I did lol) because the first tail I made broke and I had to make a new, better supported one.
