Sea Pony Stands
« on: January 21, 2013, 12:58:54 PM »
Has anyone ever made any of these so they'd stand on their own?  How do you display your sea ponies?

What about repro shells? I've never seen any ans was wondering about those...

I have an old tv that no longer works so I balance them against that. I'd love to have some stands so it would be easier to get them down and mess with them when I want to!

I think I remember seeing a tutorial a while ago about how to make stands out of plastic bottlecaps, and then paint them to be pretty! I wish I could remember who it was who came up with the idea... they were only big enough for the babies though.

At a vintage toy store I got some baby seaponies that were held up with these:

They gave me the stands with the ponies.... these were smaller, held babies well and megan and molly perfectly. You can get them in larger sizes too, perhaps that would work better for the adult seaponies.

Ahh! I have a bunch of those. I only worry how the paint holds up over the years. I'd hate to have something like those, and then have stained sea ponies eventually.

I have seen quite a few of really unique ideas over the years - the dolly stands as pictured above which I love, also egg cup holders and actual decorated egg cartons...then there are little glasses filled with pebbles so it looks like the sea and the float sitting on the rim of the glass in order to hold the pony in place.

Repro shells would be fantastic and I can imagine the Conch versions being particularly popular.
Thank you Matcha for my gorgeous Baby Fifi avi

I was hoping Shabbychicdee would  find this thread and post her pics, but so far she hasn't. Chicdee, do you mind if I share this?
In this tread she posted a picture of her sea ponies (displayed in the boat-shaped shelf) and a few of them are standing in these clear plastic things. Something from the packaging of pacifiers, I think. She explained it a couple posts down: http://mlparena.com/mlp/index.php/topic,320284.0.html

I like the egg cups idea. Or maybe clear shot glasses?
I'll put something here some time
