Are your Sparkle ponies looking dull and cloudy?
« on: January 20, 2013, 04:55:03 PM »
Mine did, especially if i had to clean them with acetone or well any sort of cleaner.  And then I tried rubbing a thin layer of gloss sealer on them and now they're translucent and glossy like new!  Try it out. :D  Revive those sparkles!
Just thought I'd share. <3

So this idea isn't going to be for everyone as some folks aren't going to want sealer on their perfectly good ponies or whatever.
But here are my examples.  These ladies are both baits.  I apologize for the shot of my dinner as well. lol

That looks fantastic! What kind/brand of sealer did you use?

She looks good!

I wonder if a little baby oil would help with the dullness?

WOW!!! That side does look good. Yes mine are dull looking. I just thought that was how the plastic was made.
I might have to give that a try sometime.

Mine's tail washer started to rust when she was MIB. So I took her out. She was all sticky. I removed the tail washer. I later wiped her off and now she has almost no glitter. She is just a translucent pony. :/

That is an interesting idea. I guess it would be easier to try it on bait ponies first.

Wow, that's some difference! Thanks for sharing :)

@Iceglider: that is weird! I thought the sparkle was inside of the plastic!

I'm honestly boggled at all the people who've claimed to have problems with the g3 sparkle ponies.  I've never encountered an off one aside from that super stank odor of new new ones.  Even the sticky ones, after I cleaned and conditioned the ponyhair/pony always came out fine no problems.  Maybe there was an odd batch that was really bad?
I used mod podge because that's all I ever use. It's water soluble.
baby oil would probably be a better solution, something that's wiped off easily.
