McPonies - better off in bags?
« on: January 19, 2013, 07:23:32 PM »
Just pondering, please let me know what you think.

I recently won a lot with ten McPonies (the G3 ones - the entire set from 2005 and two from the 25th anniversary set), all mint in bag.  You can see where this is going.  I've been really, really hoping to get my hooves on the 2005 McPs for a long time, and now I've got them, but... should I leave them in their bags?  Or rip 'em open and put 'em on display?  Or try to find loose McPonies in reasonable shape for display, and keep the MiBs for eventual value increase?  Do McPonies have any value anyway?  Or just to Happy Meal toy collectors?  I'm outta my depth here, and totally appreciate any insights.  Thanks!

I guess technically they'll lose their value when you take them out of the bags, but...let's just say no one would be mad at you if you de-bagged them. :P
  Actually, I de-bagged 1998 McDonalds ponies...yeah, you might as well. :)
I'll put something here some time

I don't think they're worth enough that taking them out of the bags would devalue them significantly n__n But do whatever you want to!

Mickey D's ponies are generally inexpensive. I had a MIB G2 Mickey D's pony, but I took it out of the bag.

I would say de bag them :) I groan whenever I get McD ponies in a pony lot because I usually already have that pony and they're EVERYWHERE (nothing but McD toys at the flea market!) I personally don't see the G3 McD toys ever getting very valuable. I love them, but I just don't think there's a whole lot of value to them :)

I have a huge sack full of them and I am not sure what to do with them! Hate to chuck em but they are in the way but when I go to throw them out, the 'guilts' come on. They will probably sit here forever.

Won't matter either way.  I see hundreds of them being sold MIP and there are millions that are loose.

Someone on here came up with the idea of handing them out at Halloween as well as candy. I've also seen people put them on eBay in lots and market them as cake toppers.

The G2 McDonalds Silver Swirl from Europe is slightly more sought after. Only slightly though. Unfortunately the rest of the older McDs ponies aren't worth a whole lot. Whether or not you want to de-bag them is entirely up to you.

Might be late to the party but I found a bag of them in the basement and I don't want them.  If you do they are yours, pm me :)

I completely agree...feel free to de-bag. Will it devalue them? Probably a little but to be honest loose or in bag their value is minimal, and due to the number of them in existence, I am doubting a sudden shortage in the future which is going to shoot their value back up.

Have fun adding the minty versions to your collection!
