Odd find, has anybody else heard of this?

So, talking to the guys on the MN Brony Facebook group, and apparently one had found a Nightmare Moon set..at a Target? Not just one but a few, but it was a while ago.

Anybody heard of this?  Was it just a fluke?

i think they mean the target exclusive crystal princess set with luna/celestia/cadance

Thing is though, he specifically said the Nightmare Moon set that was exclusive to ToysRUs with DJ and Trixie, and that the box was a little different.  he's been part of the group since our group was founded almost two years ago, so I doubt he'd make that kind of mistake.  He's been collecting the figures too.

How weird! O.o Maybe they got end of stock from TRU to resell. If he kept the box can he take a photo of it?

Apparently he saw it back when the set first came out, He didn't have the money for it at the time though.  I told him he should have taken a picture.

Honestly - TRU will have a watertight contract in place with Hasbro with significant money in place for an exclusive product deal. It would be breaking such a contract and want to serious repercussions for a competing retailer to carry a product like this. Honestly I would guess he is remembering the wrong store or thinking of a different product. Also with the number of people collecting out there you would think an exclusive and alternative packaged set would have been pictured and posted somewhere.
