Bleeding Hair
« on: January 07, 2013, 02:41:48 PM »
I've had a Blossom for a couple months now. Yesterday, she got these purple marks, exactly like her hair color last night. She sat next to my Starshine and soon Starshine got these marks. Has anyone else had this happen to them? I'm pretty sure it was her hair that made the marks.

I haven't seen it happen with purple hair before, but the chartreuse/bright yellow hair that G1 Surprise and several other G1 ponies have is prone to bleeding onto plastic. :awake: I know certain types of tinsel (the colored kind) can bleed onto plastic too.

I have seen it with a bunch of my G3's so I naturally expected it to happen with any G1 as well. I wonder what starts it????  I have always felt that most of the so called "marker/hilighter" stains on G1's come from pony hair contact and poor storage.  I was thinking it was heat, but now I am not so sure what the issue is.  Obviously its not just ponies thrown in a box and tossed in the attic that have these issues...just ponies being next to each other can be a cause.

It also happen with the fading pink on my G3 Mistletoe. She was stored poorly, though.

i think i heard some thing ages ago about this happening to windy when she was washed.
she arrived so very purple but dirty and when i rubbed gently over her with a magic eraser she stained the sponge all purple and she was lighter underneath :(

I see it was mentioned, but I have always noticed the bright yellow bleeding. Almost all of the girls in my flutter army (Yum Yum and Forget me Not) have shown up with a bit of bleeding. I've also had it on my Nightlight's near where the yellow plugs are placed.

Talking about the actual color bleeding I think someone mentioned before earlier ponies of certain colors tended to bleed. I know my FF Blossom bled when I used a magic eraser on her forever ago.

Thats such a shame :( I am sorry you have had this problem.

I am so nosy though :P Do you have a picture, it would be interesting to see? Was her hair wet, did the marks literally appear overnight and was her hair pressed up against Starshine as well?

As others have mentioned that particular shade of pony can be prone to loosing the pigment from her plastic, so perhaps the staining and blotching is from the pony body rather than her hair?

I can get some pictures tommorow. :)
No, the hair wasn't wet, and the marks I dont think appeared overnight, her hair was just touching Starshine.

Gosh so the hair was not even wet and it stained! Oh my goodness thats unusual unless there was pressure.

Perhaps you can try sunfading to get it back out again?
