I collect MANY things, and gosh, I can't stand dusting! Everything always gets knocked down, and stuffed animals are the worst because they collect dust like magnets!  -_-

I plan to get a few detolf cabinets from Ikea once I've got my own place, those look really fancy, are not ridiculously expensive (though they're not cheap either!), and I assume there is much less dusting.

I have succumbed to the dust. There is no escape, only acceptance. Maybe one day, canned air will bring salvation. But that day is far from today. Cleaning is a job for those strong of heart, which I sadly am not.

I only display a few at a time. The rest are packed away until I decide I miss them and switch them out.  I really, really hate dust.   >_<

Most craft stores sell clear vinyl plastic in different thicknesses on rolls, usually by the foot. I buy enough to cover the front of the shelf and use self sticking Velcro to attach the plastic to the shelf. After its been up for awhile any wrinkles pull out and you can't really see the plastic. (you can see it in the picture because of the camera flash)

On my main G1 shelf I even made a hinged door with the clear vinyl plastic over the door and weather stripping around the door where the self and door meet. Haven't had to dust that shelf in 3 years. the other ones with the plastic Velcroed on, I only dust yearly even though it usually doesn't need it.

super clever and sounds realy effective! Do you have any mold or moisture issues with that method? I'm guessing not :-)

I really don't dust as much as I should  I hate clutter and knick knacks for just that reason. Ponies are my only "thing" of that type. I finally have mine out on a shelf after years of confinement so I haven't come up with a good answer yet. I have considered sending them back to their treasure chest pony home, but I'd much rather see them! I don't really find mine collect that much dust luckily. Once a month though gotta take um all down.

Great idea, Ravenwolf!  If not for my glass cases I would not have my ponies on display.  Dusting drives me nuts.

Dust mask, canned air (the kind they sell for cleaning electronics), and a thorough vacuuming of the floor afterwards.

I don't display my collections due to lack of space, but my husband has a big dragon collection up on some shelves. About once every 6 months, i pull them all down and spray them with the sink sprayer. They are all resin/plastic so they aren't damaged. I tried just dusting them with a duster, but they all have little scales or sharp claws so they tend to tear up the dusters.

I have them all on a shelf or two. They aren't with me, so I don't have a lot of dust to deal with :P The ones I have with me, however, do not get a lot of dust, so it's cool. I dream of having cabinets one day to display my collection and my other toys, so I won't have to deal with dust and the like.

I found I have problems with dust if I put them on my beside table, but I think that's because it's under an arch in my room and I think the dust from the arch comes down.

I don't really find dust a problem for my collection. It's currently in a box right now because of people who want to buy the house will be coming through regularily, but before that, I had them sitting on top of my dresser in my bedroom and that worked for them. It's a well-ventilated room that sucks air through the vent, and because it's the room I am in most, the dust doesn't have a chance to sit on my ponies and gets sucked through the vent instead. Plus I regularily brush my ponies too.

I have all my loose ponies in a bookcase with doors that close down. I do not have to dust all that much! I am pretty happy that I do not have to. If I had them on the open bookcase it would of been a differnt story...
