When you need a Nirvana restored?
« on: January 06, 2013, 04:23:42 AM »
Hi,

This probably could have went in customs, but I wanted to ask the nirvana community. I have two ponies that need actual symbol restoration. My poor Brazilian Bowtie and Argie Moondancer have almost nothing left of their symbols. I was curious about which members in the community people typically turn to with good results? I'm trying to find someone within the U.S. to avoid all the customs ect, since I would send these girls with insurance while traveling and such. I'm not in a super big hurry, and I don't mind waiting lists. I just need someone that can get their symbols close to the old ones. Any suggestions?

I agree with rel!! I'm not big on restorations, but I have made a few exceptions. I had a Brazil collector pose Parasol that was missing about 90% of her eye. PKW did an amazing job of repainting the missing eye. It totally looks factory. Any future restoration work I need will go to PKW for sure. ;)

I'm basically going to wave flags for PKW here, her work is the best I've seen. I don't know strawberryfair, unforunately, does she have a gallery somewhere?

You might also consider customizers who do Hasbro-inspired customs or replicas.  There are a lot of amateurs out there, but there are also some very talented artists who are very precise with a paintbrush.  Primarily you want someone who uses quality materials, has very clean and detailed paintwork, and can imitate the Hasbro style.

It will not help you much if you only want someone in the US but for what it is worth Isabella Klien does such a fabulous job the symbols look like they were done in the factory!
