Help me name my dog!

We adopted a gorgeous 7 month old female doberman and she needs a name. I want something old and elegent. I've been looking at Isis, Cleopatra and Raven.

Any sugestions?

I like Isis!  If I had a dobey, I'd call him Anubis... but Isis is great for a female.

Baby-naming websites are an excellent source for old or exotic - but not bizarre - names; here's a few. Not all of them are old, but they do sound elegant!
Arwen/Arwyn - Of Welsh origin; meaning muse.
Keiko - Japanese origin; meaning 'to be glad'.
Reiko - Japanese origin; meaning beautiful.
Sakura - Also of Japanese origin; meaning cherry blossom.

I generally recommend you avoid "s" names because dogs already have to distinguish between sit, stand, stay, shake, speak, and sometimes stop, steady, and place which have "s" sounds.

I like Freyja or Freya, Hera, Raven. Beware that you'll have to deal with people comparing Raven to the actress.

We picked her up this morning. She's only been with us a few hours but she is one of the most fascinating dogs I've ever seen. When you talk to her, she actually listens and she watches T.V! She seems so excited about being here that she'll take cat naps on her feet and at the littlest sounds comes instantly awake. It's hilarious. She's a little skinny, but that was because she was a stray. It baffles me that someone would spend all this money on croping ears and tail and de-clawing and not chip her!

This is her watching T.V at the time. Some talk show was on and it got a little loud, I assume she was responding to all the different voices.

I'm so glad my other dog is handeling it well. Not one nip or growl, though when I show the Dob affection she tried to intervienne.
