For Christmas myself and my brother had $100-150 each spent on us for Christmas, we never got all toys. Most of the stuff we got was clothing or other things aside from toys so that's what I'm used to when it comes to Christmas. Call me mean but I will never buy my children all toys for birthdays or Christmas, I don't find it practical or realistic. My kids are used to getting things like clothing, blankets things they need for Christmas or their birthdays so when they get them they seem more excited about them since they don't expect just toys. Now, before this all gets taken the wrong way, this is just how my children are and how I raise them. I don't call anyone a bad parent or judge them for how they decide to give presents. So, back to the original subject, that's a whole lot of frickin' dolls! What lucky girls!I'm the opposite If my daughter needs new clothes or blankets or socks, I just get them for her. Kids are rarely excited about that kind of stuff, so I'd rather save the fun presents for holidays. Everyone is different though, and I think practical and realistic are good things!edit: Of course, she is only 2... Maybe she'll be more excited about clothes when she's older......

its possible that the pile of dolls was from multiple gifters. I know we got my step daughter 5 dolls for her birthday, and my mom got her some, and her mom, and her grandma. they can add up. in our case we have a set amount of what to spend. if the kids only want MH dolls, however many dolls add up to our set amount is how many they get *shrug*My mother spent almost $200 on my 1 year old (which to me is a lot of toys, but I am not about to complain - lol just means the baby is happy playing with the packaging )...and the same amount on all her other grandkids.everyone has a different situation
holy crap! thats alot of dolls those kiddoes have and all at once wow.. they are some lucky kids when i was little i was lucky to get anything for the holidays as we didn't have much.. ( proabably why i am toy obsessed today LOL) i think i only had like 4 or 5 barbies (one ken) total my whole childhood. i don't see anything wrong with kids getting a bunch of dolls so long as the APPRICATE them , take care of them , and realize dolls don't grow on treees ( wish they did!) , but i do think that many is a bit excessive.. i don't think if i had kids, i would be buying them tons of dolls for the holidays, even though i am a collector.. you have to have something to look forward to after all.
Christmas is such a special time for kids. No two years are the same. I don't know about anyone else, but there are only 1 or 2 Christmas years that really stand out in my mind as "omg WOW" years. I think every kid deserves that, every Christmas or just a few. Eventually you grow up and the magic is replaced by bills and responsibility. All the kids grow up and live in the real world eventually, I won't begrudge any child a Christmas "WOW" no matter what the circumstances
Oh Ashes, that must have been amazing to get PE as a kid!! It's like...the biggest, coolest playset ever! They don't make em like that anymore. One of my "wow" Christmases was receiving the gigantic Barbie Dream house hand delivered by Santa to my house! I had a "wow" birthday, not sure if it counts. When I turned 16 my hard working single dad somehow bought me a real horse! I about died on the spot. He is still my hero.
