Glued heads or turnable heads?
« on: December 25, 2012, 02:49:13 PM »
I thought of this question and got really curious all of a sudden.. so I thought I'd make a poll! xD

Which way do you like a pony's head better? Do you like it when it's glued on tight or when it's turnable?

I like it glued, turning heads can be rather difficult on some ponies plus it can mess up the hair if I'm not careful, haha.

I prefer turnable because that way I can display them on different angles with the head facing the right way!

I am a G1 girl - so I prefer a pony's head to be fixed in place :)

I don't mind in the least if it is turnable depending on what pony it is. However turnable heads make it easier to fix manes and tails.

It completely depends - I prefer my ponies to have original neck mobility, but some of the G3s whose heads are glued really annoy me!

I love turnable heads. For G1s, it generally means that the glue has worn away, which makes it easier to clean them out if need be! Same for G3s with turning heads. I hate that some of them are glued, because I can't for the life of me remove their heads, and I have some that really need to have rust removed. =( And G4s, well, I guess again it will mean easier head removal down the line when we start finding them with issues. For G2s, it means you can display them either way, which I think is fantastic.

I prefer however it was originally set up - for g1s, this means glued and for later g3s and g4s, it means turntable.  :)

Turnable.  That way I can display them in different poses.

I'd rather they be turnable but I'm not really fussed if they're fixed.

Ponies are ponies :)

It depends. Turnable/detachable heads make it really convenient for me in case I need to the ponies' "insides" a nice and thorough bath (like in case the pony's body is covered with rust): I think I already touched upon this, but this makes things a whole lot easier rather than going through the whole process of dunking a pony's head in hot water, waiting for the glue to "let go" and then tugging and pulling a pony's head (as you can probably tell, I'm not a very patient person when it comes to this particular part of "pony cleaning" :P).

When it comes to posing the ponies, I think the turnable ones go waaay better with G2, G3.5 and G4. Mostly because of the way they're posed, because they it makes much more sense and they look way more natural.  When it comes to G1 and G3 turnable heads not always look as good (of course depending on the pose)... I tried experimenting with turning my G1 Daffodil's head (who is in shy pose) in different directions to see how she'd look like. Some of the results were rather... interesting (and a bit nightmarish). XD

It really depends on the generation for me. I don't want my G1's to turn, and I don't want my G4's to be stuck in place. lol

Prefer them turnable, you can make some pretty creepy pics w/pony looking directly at camera... So much easier to clean and re-root if the glue is broken (on g1's).

I voted for turnable, 'cause I remember having a pony or two (I think Peachy, and definitely Blue Belle) whose heads eventually were able to turn, and I thought it was so cool.  I might have wiggled their heads until it was achievable...  But they might have had a piddly amount of glue to begin with.

Nowadays, when I get a secondhand pony, I'm a lot like the Red Queen... "Orv wiv their 'eads!"  The little OCD side of me worries about how their insides are faring after twenty-some years.

Oooh... That's a toughy. Of course, to me it depends what generation. I like the G1s to be in solid condition. But I do enjoy being about to pose ponies differently.

When it comes down to it, I vote Glued.

I prefer Turnable for one reason in all Gens.... I can give the ponies a good clean both inside and out if the heads are already removable/turnable :)

Especially when ponies have been taken into the baths with kids and have rust/mold in them >.<
