Matte vs ..standard sparkles?
« on: December 22, 2012, 12:04:10 AM »
Does anyone know if there's a listing of G3's that are matte? (such as Wishawhirl, Bubblecup, and Garden Glade)

I like all the G3s but, the matte seems special. More G1-like. :P

Island Rainbow
February Violet
Flippety Flop
Kiwi Tart
Apple Spice
Seaspray
Coconut Grove

Matte like a "flat" body color.  For example, I believe the first version of Sunny Daze was matte, but most of the first set of G3s had sparkly bodies (like Pinkie Pie, Kimono, etc.)  Like there were little sparkles worked into their plastic.  :)

I think she means ponies that lack the shimmery body most G3s have.

The only ones I can think of are the ones that I have/want
All My Heart and Minty V are a bit shimmery, but nowhere near as much as my other G3s and the only other two that come to mind are Hidden Treasure and Island Delight.

I just went into my pony room, and I think about half of my girls are matte! I think almost all of the white ponies are matte... Denim Blue and Desert Rose have glitter symbols, but their actual bodies are shine-less.

Some others, just from my collection:
Abra-ca-dabra
All My Heart
Apple Spice
August Breeze
Autumn Crisp
Beachberry
Beachcomber
Berries 'n' Cherries
Butter Pop
some versions of Cheerilee #2
Chocolate Chipper
Chocolate Delight
Coconut Grove
Comet Tail  and Daisy Paisley kind of are, she's shiny but not glittery
Cupcake
Dainty Daisy
Fizzy Pop
Garden Glade
Green Apple
Hidden Treasure
Hula Lula
Island Rainbow
Lavender Locket
Minty V
Mochanut
Party Cake
certain versions of Pinkie Pie
most of the Rainbow Dashes I have
Rainbow Swirl III (don't have I or II so they might be also)
Rarity
Round 'n' Round
Scooter Sprite
Skedoodle
some versions of Skywishes
Spring Carnivale
Strawberry Reef
Sunny Salsa
Sunset Sweety
Swirlypop
Triple Treat
Tropical Surprise
Valenshy
Waterfire
Winter Wish

My collection is by no means complete, and I might have missed a few or messed up some names but that's what I could come up with.

There are even a few variations of some ponies that are matte like sky wishes and sew-and-so...

I can't say I have seen such a list before but it would be interesting to come up with one.

Having had a think and gone through the G3s I have weirdly the overriding rule seems to be that if a pony has tinsel in her hair she is more likely to have a matt body finish. There are some exceptions of course.

What do you mean by matte?

Yeah, it's when the pony has no sparkles in the plastic. Candy Cane for instance seems to be matte, but if you look up close you can see her body has a small bit of shimmer to it. But the Dazzle Brights were all matte (I think), smooth solid color with no shimmer.

Pepperberry is matte as well. :)
