Paint recomendations? Technique tips?

This may be posted elsewhere, so I apologize for my oversight if it is!

Inspired by all the lovely custom work that's been posted lately, and the addition of the lovely work done on McPonies (of which I believe I have a near-bagillion) I want to try my hand at some custom work.

However... I do not have an airbrush and probably won't for quite some time (gotta make some money and convince my hubby!).

So... What type and brand of paint is best for the body of the pony if I don't have that airbrush? Any special tools and techniques that help create a near-airbrush finish? How about the paint for details and symbols? Eyes?

this might be better off in customs? :p

i cant help with the airbrush without airbrush affect but most of my paint brands are folkart but iv found even some storebrands are just fine.

It sounds like you're going to love just spending hours in the customs board   So much amazing stuff there, and links to tutorials and such.
