Help identifying an 80s toy??
« on: December 15, 2012, 11:23:40 PM »
I stopped by the flea market today to dig through Vintage Toy Guy's pony bin, and I found a non-pony in there that I swear I had as a kid. Not that specific one, but the same kind of toy and that sweet little smile was so familiar that it stopped me dead. He saw me staring at it and said it was a Keyper, but I don't think it was. Keypers opened up to store things and this one didn't. (I had one of those too, but it was the little kind that you just pinch to open.) It looked more like a Glow Worm, but it wasn't one of those either. She was roundish with flat feet, holding a little wand with a heart on top, and pale pink vinyl with curly purple hair covering the whole back half. I'm pretty sure she's a Hasbro product, but I couldn't find a name or a year on the bottom stamp.

I could swear I had one when I was little, and I loved it to pieces...I even remember the smell of the plastic. I could be blurring several toys here, but I think mine had batteries and lit up, and maybe played music.

My Google-fu has failed me. Can anyone help me figure out what this thing is?

I think I know what you're talking about, and I think I had one when I was a kid, too.  Currently searching Ghost of the Doll :)

Sounds like a Snugglebumm to me. Specifically, Princess Snugglina. Made by Plaskool, but if you look closely, the princess one should be wearing the same crown that Majesty came with.

Snugglebumms are exactly what I was thinking of, too.  Does this look about right?

YES!!! That's it! omg Thank you...that was going to drive me insane until I figured it out. You guys rock! :grouphug: The name actually came to me late last night, but I wasn't 100% sure. I asked my sweetie if "Snugglebumm" rang any bells with him. He just laughed and said that was a terrible name for a toy. :silly:

lol I couldn't take a pic. My phone was at home on the charger at the time, so naturally I came across something I wanted to take a picture of.

Eeyup, definitely a Snugglebumm. And after some research now that I have the proper name, I had Mama Brightly and Princess Snugglina as a child. The flea market find may have been a Snugglina variant or an odd dye lot...her hair was a super dark purple, as opposed to the standard lavender.
