When I worked at Target there were quite a few times when they put a CD or a movie out a day early and people come up to the register wanting to buy it, but the register won't let the item be sold. I don't know how it works with toys because I think they don't have a specific release date like a CD, movie or a game. I think toys have more of a time frame (i.e. January 2013 rather than January 13th, 2013). At least, that's from my experience. I never stocked shelves and I don't work for a toy company so I don't know exactly how it works.

I bet they put it out early because of the amount of backstock now that I think of it. We have a TON of backstock at meijer. And the store director constantly yells at the floor managers if it doesn't get put on the floor. So it very well could be that. I bet that the particular set of figures wasn't supposed to be stocked until the other set versions sold out.

That honestly wouldn't surprise me.

I actually put the boxes out myself at my Walmart.  No Street Date on them at all, and we where completely sold out otherwise.  I think it's just some system goof.

I wonder why it was recalled.  Sorry that happened to you in any case.
