My Horse Renny is close to having her baby! on Foal watch

So exciting! I wish I was living in the countryside and to be able do have all kinds of animals.

Congrats I can't wait to see that baby, Georgian Grandes can be Gorgeous! Maybe it'll come out with a lot of leg white, considering how much clydes can have.
She doesn't even look like she has a baby belly in the pics. My stud is fatter right now

Everyone else is predicting colt, so I'm going to go with filly.    Reddish with white socks and a blaze.

keep the guesses coming! i needs entertainments.   the farrier did her hooves today and he said he predicts the baby will be here arounf yule or christmas.   hahaha  it might be an apocalypse baby.    

what i know for sure:

- its at least HALF saddlebred cause Renny is full.
-It Loves a capella  music the songs that are favorites so far that get the most action are : "The man who cant be moved", "Blue Moon", and "Bohemian Rhapsody"  LOL
-It has a good chance of being chestnut red because Renny is all chestnut and very very red especially with her full winter coat in.
-It may have a slight curly gene for hair, because ren has slight curl on her forehead and feet and mane.
-its gonna be BIG

What colors were the Clydesdales at the farm?  Any with unusual markings?  It would be totally awesome to have the baby come out in some bizarre color or pattern. 

Maybe it will be a unicorn.  Just sayin'

I looked up equine genetics a little bit and with a (probable) pure black sire and a red dam, this baby can pretty much end up any color under the sun.  Unless I read the phenotypes wrong.

    still nadda!   troll horse...      she was running and kicking up her back end tonite in the field with other horses so im not thinking with the next day or so.  shes too active.    its so hard not knowing when she was bred

I looked up equine genetics a little bit and with a (probable) pure black sire and a red dam, this baby can pretty much end up any color under the sun.  Unless I read the phenotypes wrong.

Provided there are no other hidden genes to dilute the foal (such as creme, champagne or dun), the foal will probably only be black, bay or chestnut if the sire is black.  It will not be grey, as grey will trump everything else that a horse carries.  Technically, black and chestnut are the two base colors that a horse can be, genetically, with black being E_ and chestnut being ee.  Your chestnut mare (provided she is genetically chestnut) will only be able to pass on a recessive allele, while a black sire could pass on either since his second allele is automatically masked by the dominant one that causes black.  The agouti gene (A) could be carried by your mare, as even a dominant agouti gene is unable to phenotypically affect the color of a red coat.  A black sire would NOT have a dominant agouti gene, as that would make him a bay. 

A black sire's genotype should be (A)EEaa or (B)Eeaa
A chestnut mare's genotype could be (1)eeAA, (2)eeAa or (3)eeaa
In scenario 1A, you will have a bay foal
In scenario 1B, you're looking at 50% chance of bay, 50% chance chestnut
In scenario 2A, you're looking at 50% chance of bay, 50% chance of black
In scenario 2B, you're looking at 25% bay, 25% black and 50% chestnut
In scenario 3A, you will have a black foal
In scenario 3B, you're looking at 50% chance of black, 50% chance chestnut

Sorry if you already knew the numbers... coat color genetics has always intrigued me and was my favorite part of genetics in college
