Betelgeuse - Isn't Sears in the USA as well? I always assumed it was a Sears exclusive set, available in the US and Canada.

Mine came from the original owner, yes, in a CDN box marked Sears. She didn't like MLP (was wishing for SSC items) so those sets were all assembled in front of the aunt who gave them to her. The aunt also gave her a Megan and Sundance at the same time that this lady said came inside a bag not a box- she apologized about not having the packaging. So I'm assuming the aunt took advantage of Sears offer to get them both on discount- but in my case the box itself says "Megan and Sundance not included". She also gave me molly and baby Sundance with their box later on, that again, opened in front of her aunt but repacked again after she left.

It would make sense that sears would include them inside some sets too with that special offer - if you are getting the item shipped from the wishbook, having everything inside one box makes more sense.

The fact they are included- is this something printed directly on the box, or is it on a label/sticker added to the box, like the UK FT baby below. I would love to know more about your set! I've gone by the advert, my MIB set and other MIB sets for information. Thank you so much for responding to the thread already.

I would take offers on individual items as folks like me that have partial sets are looking for specific pieces

I am one of the fortunate ones that doesn't actually need the comb but there are other pieces that i do need

I have the box and I'm pretty sure its the Canadian Sears version where Megan and Sundance aren't included but you could buy them at the same time as the set for a special price as per the advert shown in the post above

I'm pretty sure Sears is a Canada-only company but it probably isn't. I tend to ignore Sears for the most part but it might be in the US as well.

I used to go to Sears as a kid (USA) I dunno if they are still here or not but they definitely were in the 80's-90's.

FantasticFirefly I can track down the scans from my box [box is in storage as well unfortunately] which I have with the Megan & Sundance included. Its not stickers its actually printed. On the front of the box in the top right corner there is a circle with a picture of Megan and Sundance in it and around the image it says "includes Megan & Sundance". Also on the back of the box [do you know where you get the blue and white rendition of the playset with all the pieces pointed out?] it has an outline of Megan and Sundance [posed as per their puffy sticker image] and says "Megan and Sundance included".

The more I read these posts I guess this is clearly 2 different options:
1) US and Canada got 2 different releases
2) There is an early release with the characters and then a second release without the characters

Yeah, every big city I have ever been to in the US has them.  They are owned by the same company that has Kmart, or Sears bought out Kmart or something like that.

Hathorcat, from what you and kellyponyfeathers are saying the US got the set packaged two ways, depending on the option you selected at sears. with M&S or without, each with it's unique box.  **I have seen US english only boxes that have the same contents list as my set.

I know Canadians got the same options, buying the set with megan and sundance or without, just perhaps we didn't get the special "megan and sundance" included boxes when you bought them together, but megan and sundace just came in a separate bag. :S

One more question, did your set include megan and sundances comb and brush?

Edit to add, here's the back panel off my box. It was in one of the few crates I have that aren't taped shut.

So then...it looks like it worked as below?

Canada: dual language box
With Megan & Sundance - they came loose and bagged
Without Megan & Sundance

US: single lanuage box
With Megan & Sundance - they came in the box
Without Megan & Sundance

And no the set does not include the comb but does include the flower brush

I'm here, lol, and catching up on the thread! Yep, I can confirm that what 'Cat said is true. In the full color sides of the box it shows a round "blaze" (advertising term, and it's printed, not stuck on) that says "includes Megan & Sundance." And the blue and white side of the box shows M & S too. Sorry, mine's in storage at my parents' house, so I can't get pics now. But I remember it clearly. I actually looked at it a lot, basicly checking that it was a real MLP item. I'd never heard of it (this was before the internet), so when I found it at the flea market, I was very confused!
