Hi!
Does anyone know what the textured poofy hair of the Perfume Puffs line of ponies is? I would really like to buy some to do a re-root but I have no idea what it is or where to find it. All the doll hair I find is either straight or curly, but none remotely similar to the coolness of the Perfume Puffs Afros.
Please let me know if you know.
The closest guess I have is raw kanekalon. Has anyone worked with that? Is that what the Perfume Puff pony hair is?

Thanks a lot.

I second the recommendation to check out customs.  Some members have used mohair, and others use loosely-spun yarn that is unraveled and brushed out until "poofy".

Thank you all so much. I am pretty new so I didn't know where to put my question or where to look for answers but it makes sense to look over in customs.
I did some more searching today and I think that raw kanekalon might be the very thing. The picture looks pretty close to what I am looking for, so I hope that is what it is. Yarn is cool, but it wasn't quite as puffy as I wanted and it will always have the crimp marks where it was twisted around itself. This is a picture of colored raw kanekalon:

Thank you all so much though!  :)
If you have worked with raw kanekalon, please let me know how it went and if it was the same as the Perfume Puffs' original hair.

Not sure what it is, but I think mohair is often used.

well, i worked with this kanekalon before i knew you can order ponyhair online, and i found, that it ripp easily if you try the needle and thread method. its quite wild and not a true match to the perfume puffs, but maybe you could get its look by styling somehow?
i would prefer mohair or the wool-method, it looks poofi-er and i think that fits great. i imagine it could be hard to make the kanekalon poofy enought.
the hair was originally thought to be support for braids and cornrows, so it lays more flat than fluffy.
whatever you decide, please show us the outcome! i bet it will be fabulous!

I think I have that stuff.  It's not like a real Perfume Puff and yes it does lay kind of flat. The red I had was starting to bleed out onto my doll but fortunately I think I was able to wash it off.  The white was kind of nice looking but the other colors I bought and tried I'm not liking.  If anybody wants to see what I've got I'll sell some of it cheaply.  It can be cheap which makes it easy to learn how to reroot with since the price isn't bad and you don't mess up with the expensive dollyhair or other doll hair brands.

I have a custom pony that I thought looked pretty nice with it (white hair).  I'm not happy with her symbol so just ignore the symbol please lol.

mohair is more commonly used, however, some have used yarn as well to make perfume puff hair

I've worked with kanekalon and I didn't like it.  It doesn't poof like PP hair, it lays more flat than poofy, and is kinky.  I used some very soft yarn on my custom Red Roses.  I just combed it out so it was poofy.  :)
